Jeremias 11

Violação da aliança, por parte de Judá

1 Eis a palavra que da parte de Jeová veio a Jeremias, dizendo: 2 *Jr 11.6Ouvi as palavras desta *Êx 19.5aliança e fala aos homens de Judá e aos habitantes de Jerusalém; 3 dize-lhes: Assim diz Jeová, Deus de Israel: *Jr 17.5;Dt 27.26;Gl 3.10Maldito seja o homem que não ouvir as palavras desta aliança, 4 a qual ordenei a vossos pais *Jr 31.32;Êx 24.3-8no dia em que os tirei da terra do Egito, *Dt 4.20;1Rs 8.51da fornalha de ferro, *Jr 7.23;26.13;Dt 11.27dizendo: Obedecei à minha voz e fazei segundo tudo quanto vos ordeno; assim, vós sereis *Jr 24.7;Zc 8.8o meu povo, e eu serei o vosso Deus; 5 para que eu estabeleça *Jr 32.22;Êx 13.5;Dt 7.12o juramento que jurei a vossos pais, de lhes dar uma terra que manasse leite e mel, como é no dia de hoje. Então, respondi e disse: *Jr 28.6Amém, Jeová!

6 Disse-me Jeová: *Jr 3.12;7.2Proclama todas estas palavras nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém, dizendo: *Jr 11.2Ouvi as palavras desta aliança e observai-as. 7 Pois com instância *1Sm 8.9protestei a vossos pais no *Jr 11.4;Êx 15.26dia em que os tirei da terra do Egito até o dia de hoje, *Jr 7.25;2Cr 36.15levantando-me cedo e protestando: *Jr 11.4Obedecei à minha voz. 8 Contudo, *Jr 7.24;9.14;35.15;Ez 20.8não obedeceram, nem inclinaram os seus ouvidos, mas andaram, cada um, na obstinação do seu mau coração; portanto, fiz vir sobre eles todas as palavras desta aliança, as quais lhes *Lv 26.14-43ordenei que observassem, porém não as observaram.

9 Disse-me mais Jeová: *Ez 22.25;Os 6.9Uma conspiração se achou entre os homens de Judá e entre os habitantes de Jerusalém. 10 *Jr 3.10-11;1Sm 15.11Tornaram às iniquidades de seus pais, que *Jr 13.10;Dt 9.7;Sl 78.8-10recusaram ouvir as minhas palavras; e *Jz 2.11-13já se foram após outros deuses, para os servir; a casa de Israel e a casa de Judá *Jr 3.6-11;Ez 16.59;Os 6.7;8.1quebraram a minha aliança, que fiz com seus pais. 11 Por isso, assim diz Jeová: Eis que vou *Jr 11.17;Jr 6.19;2Rs 22.16trazer sobre eles calamidades, de que *Jr 25.35;Is 24.17não poderão escapar; *Jr 11.14;Jr 14.12clamarão a mim, porém não os escutarei. 12 Então, *Jr 44.17;Dt 32.37irão as cidades de Judá e os habitantes de Jerusalém e clamaram aos deuses aos quais queimarão incenso; mas estes não salvarão de maneira alguma no tempo da sua aflição. 13 Pois, *Jr 2.28;2Rs 23.13segundo o número das tuas cidades, são os teus deuses, ó Judá; e, segundo o número das ruas de Jerusalém, tendes erigido altares *Jr 3.24a uma coisa vergonhosa, altares *Jr 7.9para queimardes incenso a Baal.

14 Portanto, *Jr 7.16;14.11;Êx 32.10não ores tu por este povo, nem por eles levantes clamor nem oração; porque *Jr 11.11;Sl 66.18;Os 5.6eu não os ouvirei no tempo em que clamarem a mim por causa da sua aflição. 15 Que tem *Jr 12.7a minha amada a fazer na minha casa, visto que leva a efeito *Jr 13.27maus desígnios? Porventura, votos e carne santa poderão afastar de ti o mal? Ou por estes poderás escapar. 16 Jeová te pôs o nome *Sl 52.8de oliveira verde, formosa de belos frutos; mas, ao som dum *Sl 83.2grande tumulto, *Jr 21.14;Sl 80.16;Is 27.11acendeu fogo nessa árvore, e os seus ramos são quebrados. 17 Pois Jeová dos Exércitos, que *Jr 2.21;12.2te plantou, acaba de *Jr 1.14;16.10-11;19.15pronunciar contra ti calamidades, por causa dos males da casa de Israel e da casa de Judá, que da sua parte fizeram, *Jr 11.13;Jr 7.9;32.29queimando incenso a Baal, para me provocarem à ira.

Conspiração contra Jeremias

18 Jeová *1Sm 23.11-12;2Rs 6.9-10;Ez 8.6me fez saber, e eu o soube; então, me mostraste os feitos deles. 19 Mas eu era como um manso *Is 53.7cordeiro que é levado ao matadouro; eu não soube que *Jr 18.18;20.10haviam formado contra mim desígnios, dizendo: Destruamos a árvore juntamente com o seu fruto e *Sl 83.4;Is 53.8exterminemo-lo da *Jó 28.13;Sl 52.5terra dos viventes, para que não seja lembrado mais *Sl 109.13o seu nome. 20 Porém tu, Jeová dos Exércitos, que *Jr 20.12;Gn 18.25julgas retamente, *Jr 17.10;Sl 7.9que provas os rins e o coração, permite que eu veja a vingança que tomarás deles; porque a ti revelei a minha causa. 21 Portanto, assim diz Jeová acerca dos homens de *Jr 1.1Anatote, os quais *Jr 12.5-6;20.10procuram tirar-te a vida, dizendo: Não profetizarás em nome de Jeová, para que *Jr 26.8;38.4não morras às nossas mãos; 22 por isso, assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: Eis que *Jr 21.14os castigarei; *Jr 18.21;2Cr 36.17os mancebos morrerão à espada, seus filhos e suas filhas morrerão de fome, 23 e não lhes ficará *Jr 6.9um resto, pois *Jr 23.12;Os 9.7;Mq 7.4farei vir calamidades sobre os homens de Anatote, a saber, o ano de serem eles visitados.

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2 Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem; 3 And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant, 4 Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God: 5 That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.*11.5 So…: Heb. Amen 6 Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them. 7 For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice. 8 Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not.*11.8 imagination: or, stubbornness 9 And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 10 They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

11 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.*11.11 to escape: Heb. to go forth of 12 Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.*11.12 trouble: Heb. evil 13 For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.*11.13 shameful…: Heb. shame 14 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.*11.14 trouble: Heb. evil 15 What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.*11.15 What…: Heb. What is to my beloved in my house*11.15 when…: or, when thy evil is 16 The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken. 17 For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.

18 And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings. 19 But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.*11.19 the tree…: Heb. the stalk with his bread 20 But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause. 21 Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand: 22 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:*11.22 punish: Heb. visit upon 23 And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.
