A obediência dos recabitas é dada a Judá como exemplo

1 A palavra que da parte de Jeová veio a Jeremias nos dias de *Jr 1.3;27.20;2Rs 23.34-36;24.1;Dn 1.1Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, dizendo: 2 Vai à *Jr 35.9,11casa dos *1Cr 2.55recabitas, fala com eles e, introduzindo-os na casa de Jeová, em uma das *1Rs 6.5-6,8;1Cr 9.26,33câmaras, dá-lhes vinho a beber. 3 Tomei a Jazanias, filho de Jeremias, filho de Habazinias, e a seus irmãos e a todos os seus filhos e a toda a casa dos recabitas; 4 e os introduzi na casa de Jeová, na câmara dos filhos de Hanã, filho de Jigdalias, *Dt 33.1;Js 14.6;1Rs 12.22;2Rs 1.9-13homem de Deus, a qual estava junto à câmara dos príncipes, e ficava sobre a câmara de Maaseias, filho de Salum, guarda do vestíbulo; 5 e pus diante dos filhos da casa dos recabitas taças cheias de vinho, e copos, e disse-lhes: *Am 2.12;2Co 2.9Bebei vinho. 6 Eles, porém, responderam: Não beberemos vinho, porque *2Rs 10.15,23Jonadabe, filho de *1Cr 2.55Recabe, nosso pai, nos ordenou, dizendo: *Lv 10.9;Nm 6.2-4;Jz 13.7,14;Lc 1.15Não bebereis vinho, nem vós, nem vossos filhos, nunca jamais; 7 não edificareis casa, nem semeareis semente, nem plantareis vinha, nem a possuireis; mas habitareis em *Gn 25.27;Hb 11.9tendas todos os vossos dias, para que vivais *Êx 20.12;Ef 6.2-3muitos dias sobre a face da terra, em que vós *Gn 36.7;1Cr 16.19sois peregrinos. 8 Temos *Pv 1.8-9;4.1-2,10;6.20;Ef 6.1;Cl 3.20obedecido à voz de Jonadabe, filho de Recabe, nosso pai, em toda a palavra que nos ordenou, de não bebermos vinho em todos os nossos dias, nós, nossas mulheres, nossos filhos e nossas filhas; 9 nem de edificarmos casas para nossa moradia; *Jr 35.7;Sl 37.16;1Tm 6.6nem de possuirmos vinha, nem campo, nem semente; 10 mas temos *Jr 35.7habitado em tendas, e temos obedecido e feito segundo tudo o que *Jr 35.6-7Jonadabe, nosso pai, nos ordenou. 11 Quando, porém, *2Rs 24.1-2;Dn 1.1-2Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, subia à nossa terra, dissemos: Vinde, e *Jr 4.5-7;8.14vamo-nos a Jerusalém por causa do exército dos caldeus, e por causa do exército dos siros; assim *Jr 35.2habitamos em Jerusalém.

12 Veio a palavra de Jeová a Jeremias, dizendo: 13 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Vai, e dize aos homens de Judá e aos habitantes de Jerusalém: *Jr 5.3;6.8-10;32.33;Is 28.9-12Acaso não recebereis instrução para ouvirdes as minhas palavras? diz Jeová. 14 Guardadas têm sido *Jr 35.6-10as palavras de Jonadabe, filho de Recabe, pelas quais ordenou a seus filhos que não bebessem vinho; e até o dia de hoje não o têm bebido, porque obedecem ao mandamento de seu pai; eu, porém, vos tenho falado a vós, *Jr 7.13,25;11.7;25.3-4;2Cr 36.15levantando-me cedo e falando, *Is 30.9;50.2e não me tendes escutado. 15 Também vos tenho enviado a vós todos *Jr 26.5;29.19;32.33os meus servos, os profetas, levantando-me cedo e enviando-os, a dizer: *Jr 4.1;18.11;Is 1.16-17;Ez 18.30-32;At 26.20Tornai-vos agora, cada um do seu mau caminho, e emendai os vossos feitos, *Jr 7.6;13.10;25.6;Dt 6.14e não vades após outros deuses para os servirdes, *Jr 7.7;22.4;25.5-6e habitareis na terra que vos dei a vós e a vossos pais; porém *Jr 7.24,26;11.8;17.23;34.14não inclinastes os vossos ouvidos, nem me escutastes. 16 Porquanto os filhos de Jonadabe, filho de Recabe, têm *Jr 35.14;Ml 1.6guardado o mandamento de seu pai, que lhes ordenou, mas este povo não tem escutado; 17 portanto assim diz Jeová, Deus dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis *Jr 19.3,15;21.4-10;Mq 3.12que trarei sobre Judá e sobre todos os habitantes de Jerusalém todo o mal que pronunciei contra eles: porque lhes *Jr 7.13,26-27;26.5;Pv 1.24-25;Is 65.12;66.4;Lc 13.34-35;Rm 10.21falei, porém não me ouviram; chamei-os, porém não responderam.

18 À casa dos recabitas disse Jeremias: Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Porque haveis *Êx 20.12;Ef 6.1-3obedecido o mandamento de Jonadabe, vosso pai, guardando todos os seus preceitos, e fazendo segundo tudo o que vos ordenou; 19 portanto assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: A Jonadabe, filho de Recabe, *Jr 33.17;1Cr 2.55não lhe faltará nunca varão que *Jr 15.19;Lc 21.36assista diante de mim para sempre.

1 The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying, 2 Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink. 3 Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habaziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites; 4 And I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door:*35.4 door: Heb. threshold, or, vessel 5 And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink ye wine. 6 But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever: 7 Neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land where ye be strangers. 8 Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters; 9 Nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed: 10 But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us. 11 But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians: so we dwell at Jerusalem.

12 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying, 13 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to my words? saith the LORD. 14 The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for unto this day they drink none, but obey their father’s commandment: notwithstanding I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye hearkened not unto me. 15 I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me. 16 Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but this people hath not hearkened unto me: 17 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.

18 And Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he hath commanded you: 19 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not want a man to stand before me for ever.*35.19 Jonadab…: Heb.
