1 A respeito dos filhos de *Dt 23.3-4;2Cr 20.1;Ez 21.28-32;25.2-10;Am 1.13-15;Sf 2.8-11Amom. Assim diz Jeová: Acaso não tem filhos Israel? não tem ele herdeiro? Por que razão herda *1Rs 11.5,33;Sf 1.5Milcom a Gade, e o seu povo habita nas cidades desta? 2 Portanto eis que vêm os dias, diz Jeová, em que farei ouvir o *Jr 4.19;Nm 10.9alarido de guerra contra *Dt 3.11;2Sm 11.1;Ez 21.20Rabá dos filhos de Amom; tornar-se-á num *Jr 30.18montão desolado, e *Js 17.11,16as suas filhas arderão em fogo; então *Is 14.2herdará Israel os que o herdaram a ele, diz Jeová: 3 Uivai, ó *Jr 48.2Hesbom, porque *Js 7.2-5;8.1-29;Ed 2.28Ai está despojada. Gritai, filhas de Rabá, *Jr 48.37cingi-vos de sacos; chorai, e dai voltas pelos currais; porque Milcom *Jr 46.25;48.7irá para o cativeiro juntamente com os seus sacerdotes e com os seus príncipes. 4 Por que *Jr 9.23te glorias nos vales, no teu vale que trasborda de abundância, *Jr 31.22ó filha apóstata? que confiavas nos teus *Sl 62.10;Ez 28.4-5;1Tm 6.17tesouros, dizendo: Quem virá a mim? 5 Eis que farei vir sobre ti *Jr 49.29;Jr 48.43-44pavor, diz o Senhor, Jeová dos Exércitos, por meio de todos os que estão ao redor de ti; e sereis *Jr 16.16;46.5lançados fora, cada um para adiante, e não haverá quem recolha o *Lm 4.15desgarrado. 6 Contudo depois *Jr 49.39;Jr 48.47farei voltar o cativeiro dos filhos de Amom, diz Jeová.

Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: Acaso já não se acha *Jr 8.9;Jó 2.11sabedoria em *Jr 49.20;Gn 36.11,15,34Temã? dos prudentes já pereceu o conselho? desvaneceu a sua sabedoria? 8 *Jr 49.30Fugi, voltai, escondei-vos, habitantes de *Jr 25.23;Is 21.13Dedã; porque trarei sobre ele *Jr 46.21a calamidade de Esaú, o tempo em que o visitarei. 9 Se vierem a ti *Ob 5vindimadores, não deixarão rabiscos? se ladrões de noite, destruirão até terem o que lhes baste? 10 Mas eu *Jr 13.26desnudei a Esaú, descobri os seus esconderijos, e ele não poderá ocultar-se; despojada está a sua linhagem, e bem assim seus irmãos, e os seus vizinhos, e ele já não existe. 11 Deixa *Sl 68.5os teus órfãos, eu os conservarei em vida; e confiem em mim *Sl 68.5;Zc 7.10tuas viúvas. 12 Pois assim diz Jeová: Eis que aqueles a quem não pertencia beber *Jr 25.15o cálice, certamente o hão de beber; és tu o que serás tido *Jr 25.28-29;1Pe 4.17inteiramente por inocente? Não serás tido por inocente, porém certamente hás de beber. 13 Pois por mim mesmo *Jr 44.26;Gn 22.16;Is 45.23jurei, diz Jeová, que *Jr 49.22;Gn 36.33;1Cr 1.44;Is 34.6;63.1;Am 1.12;Mq 2.12Bozra se tornará em *Jr 18.16;Is 34.9-15espetáculo horrendo, em opróbrio, em desolação e em maldição; e todas as suas cidades se converterão em desolações perpétuas.

14 Eu *Ob 1-4ouvi novas da parte de Jeová, e um *Is 18.2;30.4embaixador foi enviado por entre as nações para dizer: *Jr 50.14Ajuntai-vos, e vinde contra ela, e levantai-vos para a guerra. 15 Pois eis que te fiz *Lc 1.51pequeno entre as nações, e desprezado entre os homens. 16 Quanto a *Is 25.5seres tu terrível, enganou-te o orgulho do teu coração, ó tu que habitas nas cavernas dos *Jr 48.28;2Rs 14.7penhascos, que ocupas o cume do outeiro; embora ponhas *Jó 39.27;Is 14.13-15como águia o teu ninho no alto, dali te *Am 9.2farei descer, diz Jeová. 17 Edom tornar-se-á em *Jr 49.13;Ez 35.7objeto de espanto; todo o que passar por ela, *Jr 50.13se espantará, e *Jr 51.37;1Rs 9.8assobiará por causa de todas as suas pragas. 18 Como na subversão de *Jr 50.40;Gn 19.24-25;Dt 29.23;Am 4.11;Sf 2.9Sodoma e de Gomorra, e das cidades circunvizinhas, diz Jeová, *Jr 49.33;Jó 18.15-18não habitará ali homem, nem nela peregrinará filho de homem.*Jr 50.4419 Eis que um inimigo como leão, subirá da *Jr 12.5;Js 3.15soberba do Jordão contra a morada forte; mas de repente o farei correr dela; e quem for *Nm 16.5escolhido, pô-lo-ei sobre ela. Pois quem há *Is 46.9semelhante a mim? quem me fixará um prazo? e quem é o pastor que me poderá resistir?

20 Portanto ouvi o *Jr 50.45;Is 14.24,27conselho de Jeová, que ele tomou contra Edom, e os desígnios que formou contra os habitantes de Temã: *Jr 50.45Certamente eles, os mais pequenos do rebanho, serão arrastados; certamente *Ml 1.3-4a sua habitação será espantada por causa deles. 21 Ao estrondo da sua queda *Jr 50.46;Ez 26.15,18estremeceu a terra; há um clamor cujo som se ouve no Mar Vermelho. 22 Eis que um inimigo, como águia, subirá, *Jr 4.13;48.40-41;Os 8.1voará e estenderá as suas asas contra *Jr 49.13Bozra; e *Jr 30.6;48.41;Is 13.8o coração dos valentes de Edom tornar-se-á naquele dia como o coração da mulher que está com dores de parto.

Profecia contra Damasco

23 A respeito de *Gn 14.15;15.2;2Rs 5.12;2Cr 16.2;Is 7.8;At 9.2Damasco. Envergonhadas estão *Jr 39.5;Nm 13.21;Is 10.9;Am 6.2Hamate e *2Rs 18.34;19.13;Is 10.9Arpade; estão *Êx 15.15;Na 2.10derretidas, porque acabam de ouvir más novas; no mar há angústia, *Is 57.20não se pode sossegar. 24 *Jr 6.24Enfraquecida está Damasco, vira-se para fugir, e o tremor apossou-se dela; apoderou-se dela *Jr 49.22angústia e dores como a da mulher que está de parto. 25 Como não foi abandonada *Jr 33.9;51.41a cidade de renome, a cidade da minha alegria! 26 Portanto os seus *Jr 11.22;50.30;Am 4.10mancebos cairão nas suas ruas, e todos os homens de guerra serão reduzidos ao silêncio naquele dia, diz Jeová dos exércitos. 27 *Jr 43.12;Am 1.3-5Acenderei fogo no muro de Damasco, e devorará os palácios de *1Rs 15.18-20Ben-Hadade.

Profecia contra Quedar e Hazor

28 A respeito de *Jr 2.10;Gn 25.13;Is 21.16-17;Ez 27.21Quedar, e dos reinos de *Jr 49.30,33Hazor, que Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, feriu.

Assim diz Jeová: Levantai-vos, subi a Quedar, e despojai *Is 11.14os filhos do oriente. 29 As suas tendas e os seus rebanhos, tomá-los-ão; levarão para si as suas *Hc 3.7cortinas e todos os seus vasos, e os seus *1Cr 5.21camelos; e gritarão a eles: *Jr 46.5Há terror por toda a parte. 30 *Jr 49.8Fugi, andai errantes para longe, escondei-vos, habitantes de *Jr 49.28Hazor, diz Jeová; porque *Jr 25.9,24;27.6Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, tomou conselho contra vós, e formou um desígnio contra vós. 31 Levantai-vos, e subi a uma nação que está *Jz 18.7;Is 47.8sossegada, que habita descuidada, diz Jeová; que *Is 42.11não tem portas nem ferrolhos, e que habita a sós. 32 Os seus *Jr 49.29camelos serão para presa, e a multidão do seu gado para despojo; *Jr 49.36;Ez 12.14-15espalharei a todo o vento os que *Jr 9.26;25.23cortam o cabelo em redondo; e de todos os lados lhes trarei a sua calamidade, diz Jeová. 33 *Jr 49.28Hazor tornar-se-á em morada *Jr 10.22;51.37;Is 13.20-22;Sf 2.9,13-15de chacais, em desolação para sempre: *Jr 49.18não habitará ali homem, nem nela peregrinará filho de homem.

34 Eis a palavra de Jeová que *Jr 28.1;2Rs 24.17-18no princípio do reinado de Zedequias, rei de Judá, veio ao profeta Jeremias acerca de *Jr 25.25;Gn 10.22;14.1,9;Is 11.11;Ez 32.24;Dn 8.2Elão. 35 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: Eis que *Jr 51.56;Sl 46.9;Is 22.6quebrarei o arco de Elão, a fonte do seu poder. 36 Farei vir sobre Elão *Dn 7.2;8.8;Ap 7.1os quatro ventos dos quatro cantos do céu, e *Jr 49.32;Ez 5.10;Am 9.9os espalharei para todos estes ventos; e não haverá nação aonde não cheguem os fugitivos de Elão. 37 Farei que Elão *Jr 8.9,17-18se espante diante de seus inimigos, e diante dos que procuram tirar-lhe a vida. *Jr 6.19Farei vir sobre eles o mal, *Jr 30.24o ardor da minha ira, diz Jeová; *Jr 9.16enviarei após eles a espada, até que eu os tenha consumido. 38 Porei o meu trono em Elão, e destruirei dali rei e príncipes, diz Jeová. 39 Nos últimos dias *Jr 49.6;Jr 48.47farei voltar o cativeiro de Elão, diz Jeová.

1 Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the LORD; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?*49.1 Concerning: or, Against*49.1 their king: or, Melcom 2 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir unto them that were his heirs, saith the LORD. 3 Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.*49.3 their king: or, Melcom 4 Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?*49.4 thy…: or, thy valley floweth away 5 Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth. 6 And afterward I will bring again the captivity of the children of Ammon, saith the LORD.

7 Concerning Edom, thus saith the LORD of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished? 8 Flee ye, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I will visit him.*49.8 turn…: or, they are turned back 9 If grapegatherers come to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough.*49.9 till…: Heb. their sufficiency 10 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not. 11 Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me. 12 For thus saith the LORD; Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink of it. 13 For I have sworn by myself, saith the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes. 14 I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle. 15 For, lo, I will make thee small among the heathen, and despised among men. 16 Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD. 17 Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof. 18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it. 19 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?*49.19 appoint me…: or, convent me in judgment? 20 Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them. 21 The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.*49.21 Red sea: Heb. Weedy sea 22 Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.*49.23 fainthearted: Heb. melted*49.23 on…: or, as on the sea 24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail. 25 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy! 26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts. 27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Ben-hadad.

28 Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite, thus saith the LORD; Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and spoil the men of the east. 29 Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry unto them, Fear is on every side.

30 Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the LORD; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you.*49.30 get…: Heb. flit greatly 31 Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.*49.31 wealthy: or, that is at ease 32 And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith the LORD.*49.32 in…: Heb. cut off into corners, or, that have the corners of their hair polled 33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation for ever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.

34 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying, 35 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might. 36 And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come. 37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them: 38 And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD.

39 But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD.
