Jeremias 8

1 Naquele tempo, diz Jeová, *Ez 6.5tirarão fora dos seus sepulcros os ossos dos reis de Judá, e os ossos dos príncipes, e os ossos dos sacerdotes, e os ossos dos profetas, e os ossos dos habitantes de Jerusalém. 2 Expô-los-ão ao sol, e à lua, e a todo o *Jr 19.13;2Rs 23.5;Sf 1.5;At 7.42exército do céu, a quem eles amaram, e a quem serviram, e após quem andaram, e a quem buscaram, e a quem adoraram; não serão recolhidos, *Jr 22.19;36.30nem sepultados; serão *Jr 9.22;2Rs 9.37;Sl 83.10por esterco sobre a face da terra. 3 Escolherão *Jó 3.21-22;7.15-16;Jn 4.3;Ap 9.6antes a morte que a vida todos os que ficarem dessa malvada família, em todos os *Jr 23.3,8;29.14;Dt 30.1,4lugares para onde os arrojei, diz Jeová dos Exércitos.

A apostasia do povo de Deus. O castigo é inevitável

4 Também lhes dirás: Assim diz Jeová: Porventura, cairão os homens *Pv 24.16;Am 5.2;Mq 7.8e não se levantarão? Acaso, o que se desvia não voltará? 5 Por que, pois, *Jr 5.6;7.24apostatou este povo de Jerusalém com uma perpétua apostasia? Ele *Jr 5.27;9.6retém o engano, recusa-se a voltar. 6 *Sl 14.2;Ml 3.16Eu escutei e ouvi, mas não falam o que é reto; *Ez 22.30;Mq 7.2;Ap 9.20ninguém se arrepende da sua maldade, dizendo: Que fiz eu? Cada um se volta para a sua carreira, como um *Jó 39.21-25cavalo que, na batalha, corre a toda a brida. 7 *Pv 6.6-8;Is 1.3A cegonha no céu conhece os seus tempos determinados; *Ct 2.12a rola, a andorinha e o grou observam o tempo da sua arribação; mas *Jr 5.4-5o meu povo não conhece a ordenação de Jeová.

8 Como dizeis: *Jr 4.22;Jó 5.12-13;Rm 1.22;2.17Nós somos sábios, e a lei de Jeová está conosco? Mas, na verdade, eis que a falsa pena dos escribas a converteu em mentira. 9 Os sábios são *Jr 6.15;Is 19.11;1Co 1.27envergonhados, espantados e presos; *Jr 6.19rejeitaram a palavra de Jeová, e que sabedoria é essa que eles têm? 10 Portanto, *Jr 6.12-13;38.22;Dt 28.30darei suas mulheres a outros, e os seus campos, aos que hão de possuí-los; porque, desde o menor até o maior, cada um está entregue *Jr 6.13;Is 56.11;57.17à cobiça; desde o profeta até o sacerdote, cada um procede aleivosamente. 11 Eles *Jr 6.14;14.13-14;Lm 2.14;Ez 13.10curam superficialmente o mal da filha do meu povo, dizendo: Paz, paz, quando não há paz. 12 Serão *Jr 3.3;6.15;Sl 52.1,7;Is 3.9;Sf 3.5envergonhados, por terem cometido abominação, esses que de maneira alguma sentem vergonha, nem tampouco sabem que coisa é confundir-se. 14 Por que nos sentamos quietos? *Jr 4.5Ajuntai-vos, e *Jr 35.11;2Sm 20.6entremos nas cidades fortificadas e ali nos calemos, porque Jeová, nosso Deus, nos fez calar e nos deu a beber água de *Jr 9.15;Dt 29.18;Sl 69.21;Lm 3.19;Mt 27.34fel, *Jr 3.25;14.20porque pecamos contra Jeová. 15 *Jr 8.11;Jr 14.19Aguardamos a paz, porém não chegou bem algum; e o tempo da cura, e eis o pavor! 16 Já desde *Jr 4.15;Jz 18.29Dã se ouve o ronco dos seus cavalos; à voz dos rinchos dos seus *Jz 5.22ginetes, estremece a terra toda; porque vieram e *Jr 3.24;10.25devoraram a terra e quanto nela havia, a cidade e os que nela habitavam. 17 Pois eis que vou *Nm 21.6;Dt 32.24enviar entre vós serpentes, basiliscos contra os quais *Sl 58.4-5não há encantamentos; eles vos morderão, diz Jeová. 18 Oxalá que eu pudesse *Is 22.4;Lm 1.16-17confortar-me contra a tristeza; o meu *Jr 23.9;Lm 5.17coração desfalece dentro de mim. 19 Eis a voz do clamor da filha do meu povo desde a terra que está mui *Jr 4.16;9.16;Is 13.5;39.3remota: Porventura, *Jr 14.9não está Jeová em Sião? Não está nela o seu Rei? Por que *Jr 7.19;Dt 32.21me provocaram à ira as suas imagens esculpidas e com estranhas *Sl 31.6vaidades? 20 Já se passou a ceifa, já se acabou o verão, e nós não estamos salvos. 21 Quebrantado estou pelo *Jr 4.19;9.1;14.17mal da filha do meu povo; *Jr 14.2;Na 2.10estou de luto; o espanto apoderou-se de mim. 22 Acaso, não há *Jr 46.1;Gn 37.25bálsamo em Gileade? Ou não se acha lá médico? *Jr 14.19;30.13Por que, pois, não se realizou a cura da filha do meu povo?

1 At that time, saith the LORD, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves: 2 And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth. 3 And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.

4 Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return? 5 Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return. 6 I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle. 7 Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD. 8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.*8.8 in vain made…: or, the false pen of the scribes worketh for falsehood 9 The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?*8.9 The wise…: or, Have they been ashamed, etc*8.9 what…: Heb. the wisdom of what thing 10 Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. 11 For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. 12 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.*8.12 I will…: or, In gathering I will consume

13 I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them. 14 Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.*8.14 gall: or, poison 15 We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble! 16 The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan: the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they are come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein.*8.16 all…: Heb. the fulness thereof 17 For, behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the LORD.

18 When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me.*8.18 in: Heb. upon 19 Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the LORD in Zion? is not her king in her?
