1 A palavra que *Jr 25.1;36.1;46.1no quarto ano de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, o profeta Jeremias falou a *Jr 32.12,16;43.3,6Baruque, filho de Nerias, quando este *Jr 36.4,18,32escrevia num livro estas palavras da boca de Jeremias que disse: 2 Assim diz Jeová, Deus de Israel, acerca de ti, ó Baruque: 3 Disseste: Ai de mim agora; pois Jeová acrescentou tristeza à minha dor; *Sl 6.6;69.3;2Co 4.1,16;Gl 6.9estou cansado do meu gemer, e não acho descanso. 4 Assim lhe dirás: Isto diz Jeová: Eis *Jr 1.10;11.17;18.7-10;31.28que eu estou demolindo o que edifiquei, e arrancando o que plantei, e isto em toda a terra. 5 *1Rs 3.9,11;2Rs 5.26;Mt 6.25,32;Rm 12.16Buscas tu para ti mesmo coisas grandes? não as busques. Pois eis que eu *Jr 25.31;Is 66.16estou trazendo o mal sobre toda a carne, diz Jeová; porém te darei a tua vida *Jr 21.9;38.2;39.18por despojo em todos os lugares para onde fores.

1 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying, 2 Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch; 3 Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the LORD hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.

4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, The LORD saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land. 5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.
