Jeremias 34

Zedequias é prevenido da queda de Jerusalém

1 A palavra que da parte de Jeová veio a Jeremias, quando *Jr 32.2;39.1-3;52.4Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, e todo o seu exército, *Jr 1.15;27.7;Dn 2.37-38e todos os reinos da terra que estavam debaixo do seu domínio, e todos os povos pelejavam contra Jerusalém e contra todas as suas cidades. Esta palavra dizia: 2 Assim diz Jeová, Deus de Israel: *Jr 22.1-2;37.1-4;2Cr 36.11-12Vai, fala a Zedequias, rei de Judá, e dize-lhe: Assim diz Jeová: Eis que *Jr 34.22;Jr 32.29;37.8-10entregarei esta cidade nas mãos do rei de Babilônia, e ele lhe lançará fogo. 3 *Jr 34.21;Jr 21.7;2Rs 25.4-5Tu não escaparás da sua mão; mas certamente serás preso e entregue na sua mão; *Jr 39.6-7;2Rs 25.6-7os teus olhos verão os olhos do rei de Babilônia, e ele te falará boca a boca, e irás a Babilônia. 4 Todavia ouve a palavra de Jeová, ó Zedequias, rei de Judá; assim diz Jeová acerca de ti: Não morrerás à espada; 5 em paz morrerás, e *2Cr 16.14;21.19queimar-te-ão perfumes a ti, como fizeram a teus pais, os reis passados que te precederam, e *Jr 22.18te prantearão, dizendo: Ah senhor! Pois eu falei a palavra, diz Jeová.

6 O profeta Jeremias falou *2Sm 3.18;15.16-24;1Rs 21.18todas estas palavras a Zedequias, rei de Judá, em Jerusalém, 7 quando o exército do rei de Babilônia pelejava contra Jerusalém, e contra todas as cidades que restavam de Judá, contra *Js 10.3,5;2Rs 14.19;18.14;Is 36.2Laquis e contra *Js 10.10;2Cr 11.9Azeca; porque das cidades de Judá só estas haviam ficado como *2Cr 11.5-10cidades fortificadas.

As ameaças de Deus por causa da escravatura

8 Depois que o rei Zedequias *2Rs 11.17;23.2-3fizera uma aliança com todo o povo que estava em Jerusalém, veio da parte de Jeová a palavra a Jeremias, para lhes *Jr 34.14,17;Lv 25.10,39-46;Ne 5.1-13apregoar a liberdade; 9 a fim de que cada um deixasse ir livre, o seu servo, e cada um igualmente a sua serva, *Gn 14.13;Êx 2.6hebreu ou hebreia; e que ninguém se servisse dum judeu seu irmão. 10 Todos os *Jr 26.10,16príncipes e todo o povo, que haviam entrado na aliança, obedeceram, deixando ir livres, cada um o seu servo, e cada um a sua serva, de maneira que ninguém daqui em diante se servisse deles; sim obedeceram, e deixaram-nos ir. 11 Mas *Jr 34.21;Jr 37.5;Sl 78.34-36;Os 6.4depois se arrependeram, e fizeram voltar os servos e as servas que eles haviam deixado ir livres, e sujeitaram-nos como servos e servas.

12 Portanto da parte de Jeová veio a palavra de Jeová a Jeremias, dizendo: 13 Assim diz Jeová, Deus de Israel: Eu fiz *Jr 31.32;Êx 24.3,7,8;Dt 5.2-3,27uma aliança com vossos pais no dia em que *Êx 20.2os tirei da terra do Egito, da casa de servidão, dizendo: 14 *Êx 21.2;Dt 15.12;1Rs 9.22Ao fim de sete anos, deixareis ir cada um a seu irmão hebreu que te for vendido e que te houver servido seis anos, deixá-lo-ás ir de ti livre; vossos pais, porém, *1Sm 8.7-8;2Rs 17.13-14não me ouviram, nem inclinaram os seus ouvidos. 15 Há pouco tornastes e *Jr 34.8fizestes o que é reto nos meus olhos, apregoando liberdade cada um ao seu próximo; tínheis *2Rs 23.3;Ne 10.29feito uma aliança diante de mim *Jr 7.10-11;32.34na casa que é chamada do meu nome; 16 mas *Jr 34.11;1Sm 15.11;Ez 3.20;18.24tornastes a *Êx 20.7profanar o meu nome, fazendo voltar cada um o seu servo, e cada um a sua serva, que haveis deixado ir livres conforme a sua vontade, e sujeitando-os para que fossem vossos servos e servas.

17 Portanto assim diz Jeová: Vós não me ouvistes, para apregoardes a liberdade, cada um a seu irmão e cada um ao seu próximo; eis que vos *Lv 26.34-35;Et 7.10;Dn 6.24;Mt 7.2estou apregoando a liberdade, diz Jeová, para a *Jr 32.24;38.2espada, para a peste e para a fome; farei que sejais *Jr 29.18;Dt 28.25,64um espetáculo horrendo a todos os reinos da terra. 18 Entregarei os homens que *Dt 17.2;Os 6.7;8.1transgrediram a minha aliança, e não cumpriram as palavras da aliança que fizeram diante de mim, quando *Gn 15.10dividiram em duas partes o bezerro e passaram pelo meio das suas porções. 19 Os *Jr 34.10;Ez 22.27;Mq 7.1-5;Sf 3.3-4príncipes de Judá, e os príncipes de Jerusalém, e os eunucos, e os sacerdotes, e todo o povo da terra, os quais passaram pelo meio das porções do bezerro; 20 eu os entregarei nas mãos dos seus inimigos, e nas mãos dos que *Jr 11.21;21.7;22.25procuram tirar-lhes a vida; os seus *Jr 19.7;1Sm 17.44,46;1Rs 14.11;16.4cadáveres servirão de pasto para as aves do céu e para os animais da terra. 21 *Jr 32.3-4;39.6;52.10,24-27;2Rs 25.18-21;Ez 17.16A Zedequias, rei de Judá, e os seus príncipes, entregá-los-ei nas mãos dos seus inimigos e nas mãos dos que procuram tirar-lhes a vida, e nas mãos do exército do rei de Babilônia, que *Jr 37.5-11se retiraram de vós. 22 Eis que darei ordem, diz Jeová, e os farei *Jr 37.8voltar a esta cidade; eles pelejarão contra ele, e a tomarão e *Jr 34.2a incendiarão: das cidades de Jeová farei *Jr 4.7uma desolação, de sorte que *Jr 33.10;44.22não haja habitantes nelas.

1 The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth of his dominion, and all the people, fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying,*34.1 of his…: Heb. the dominion of his hand 2 Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire: 3 And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.*34.3 he shall…: Heb. his mouth shall speak to thy mouth 4 Yet hear the word of the LORD, O Zedekiah king of Judah; Thus saith the LORD of thee, Thou shalt not die by the sword: 5 But thou shalt die in peace: and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings which were before thee, so shall they burn odours for thee; and they will lament thee, saying, Ah lord! for I have pronounced the word, saith the LORD. 6 Then Jeremiah the prophet spake all these words unto Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem, 7 When the king of Babylon’s army fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish, and against Azekah: for these defenced cities remained of the cities of Judah.

8 This is the word that came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people which were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them; 9 That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to wit, of a Jew his brother. 10 Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his manservant, and every one his maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, and let them go. 11 But afterward they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.

12 Therefore the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 13 Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondmen, saying, 14 At the end of seven years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.*34.14 hath been…: or, hath sold himself 15 And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name:*34.15 now: Heb. to day*34.15 which…: Heb. whereupon my name is called 16 But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom ye had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids. 17 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.*34.17 to be…: Heb. for a removing 18 And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made before me, when they cut the calf in twain, and passed between the parts thereof, 19 The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, which passed between the parts of the calf; 20 I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for meat unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth. 21 And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon’s army, which are gone up from you. 22 Behold, I will command, saith the LORD, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without an inhabitant.
