Jeremias é encarcerado

1 A palavra que da parte de Jeová veio a Jeremias *Jr 39.1-2;2Rs 25.1-2no décimo ano de Zedequias, rei de Judá, o qual ano era *Jr 25.1o décimo oitavo de Nabucodonosor. 2 Ora nesse tempo cercava o exército do rei de Babilônia a Jerusalém; e o profeta Jeremias se achava encarcerado no *Jr 37.21;39.13-15pátio da guarda, que estava na casa *Ne 3.25do rei de Judá. 3 Pois Zedequias, rei de Judá, *2Rs 6.31-32o havia encerrado, dizendo: Porque *Jr 26.8-9;Am 7.13profetizas tu e dizes: *Jr 21.3-7;34.2-3Assim diz Jeová: Eis que *Jr 32.28-29;Jr 21.4-7;34.2-3entregarei esta cidade nas mãos do rei de Babilônia, e ele a tomará; 4 e Zedequias, rei de Judá, *Jr 37.17;38.18,23;39.4-7;2Rs 25.4-7não escapará das mãos dos caldeus, mas certamente será entregue nas mãos do rei de Babilônia, e *Jr 39.5falará com ele boca a boca, e os seus olhos verão os olhos dele; 5 e o rei de Babilônia *Jr 39.7;Ez 12.12-13levará para Babilônia Zedequias que ali estará até que eu o *Jr 27.22;34.4-5visite, diz Jeová? *Jr 21.4Ainda que pelejeis contra os caldeus, não sereis *Ez 17.9-10,15bem sucedidos.

É lhe ordenado que compre um campo em Anatote

6 Disse Jeremias: A palavra de Jeová veio a mim, dizendo: 7 Eis que Hananeel, filho de Salum, teu tio, virá a ti, dizendo: Compra-te o meu campo que está em *Jr 1.1;11.21Anatote; pois a ti, a quem pertence *Lv 25.25;Rt 4.3-4o direito de resgate, compete comprá-lo. 8 Veio, pois, segundo a palavra de Jeová, ter comigo no *Jr 32.2;Jr 33.1pátio da guarda Hananeel, filho do meu tio, e disse-me: Compra o meu campo que está em *Jr 32.7Anatote, na terra de Benjamim; porque teu é o direito da herança, e a ti pertence o resgatá-lo; compra-o para ti. Entendi que era isto *Jr 32.25;1Sm 9.16-17;10.3-7;1Rs 22.25a palavra de Jeová. 9 Comprei o campo que estava em Anatote a Hananeel, filho de meu tio, *Gn 23.16e pesei-lhe o dinheiro, dezesseis *Gn 24.22;Êx 21.32;Ne 5.15;Ez 4.10siclos de prata. 10 *Jr 32.44;Is 44.5Subscrevi o auto e *Dt 32.34;Jó 14.17o selei, *Rt 4.1,9;Is 8.1-2chamei testemunhas e *Jr 32.9pesei-lhe o dinheiro numa balança. 11 Tomei o auto da compra, tanto o selado, que continha *Lc 2.27o mandado e as condições, como o aberto. 12 O auto da compra entreguei a *Jr 32.16;Jr 36.4-5,32;43.3;45.1Baruque, filho de *Jr 51.59Nerias, filho de Maaseias, na presença de *Jr 32.7Hananeel, filho de meu tio, e na presença das testemunhas que subscreveram o auto da compra, à vista de todos os *Jr 32.10judeus que estavam sentados no pátio da guarda. 13 Dei ordem a Baruque diante deles, dizendo: 14 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Toma estes *Jr 32.10-12autos, este auto da compra, tanto o selado como o aberto, e mete-os num vaso de barro, para que se possam conservar muitos dias. 15 Pois assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Ainda se comprarão *Jr 32.37,43-44;Jr 30.18;31.5,12,24;33.12-13;Am 9.14-15;Zc 3.10casas e campos e vinhas nesta terra.

Jeremias ora para que seja iluminado

16 Ora depois que eu entregara o auto da compra a Baruque, filho de Nerias, *Jr 12.1;Gn 32.9-12;Fp 4.6-7orei a Jeová, dizendo: 17 *Jr 1.6;4.10Ah, Senhor Jeová! tu *Jr 27.5;2Rs 19.15;Sl 102.25;Is 40.26-28fizeste o céu e a terra com o teu grande poder e com o teu braço estendido *Jr 32.27;Gn 18.14(nada há que seja demasiado difícil para ti); 18 tu *Êx 34.6-7;Dt 7.9-10mostras misericórdia a milhares, e tornas a iniquidade *1Rs 14.9-10;16.1-3;Mt 23.32-36dos pais ao seio de seus filhos depois deles; tu és *Sl 145.3o grande, *Jr 20.11;Sl 50.1o poderoso Deus, cujo nome é *Jr 10.16;31.35Jeová dos Exércitos, 19 *Is 9.6;28.29grande em conselho, e poderoso em obras; e cujos *Jr 23.24;Jó 34.21olhos estão abertos sobre todos os caminhos dos filhos dos homens; para *Jr 17.10;21.14;Sl 62.12;Mt 16.27;Jo 5.29dares a cada um segundo os seus caminhos, e segundo o fruto dos seus feitos. 20 Tu *Sl 78.43;105.27puseste sinais e maravilhas na terra do Egito até o dia de hoje, e em Israel e entre outros homens; e *Is 63.12,14;Dn 9.15te fizeste um nome qual tu tens neste dia. 21 Tu *Dt 4.34;7.19;26.8;1Cr 17.21tiraste da terra do Egito o teu povo de Israel com sinais e com maravilhas, e com mão forte, e com braço estendido, e com grande terror; 22 e deste-lhe esta terra, *Jr 11.5;Êx 13.5;Dt 1.8;Sl 105.9-11que juraste a seus pais que lhes darias, terra que mana leite e mel. 23 Eles *Jr 2.7;Sl 44.2-3;78.54-55entraram, e dela tomaram posse; porém não obedeceram à tua voz, nem *Jr 26.4;44.10;Ed 9.7andaram na tua lei; não fizeram nada de tudo o que lhes ordenaste fizessem; portanto fizeste que lhes sucedesse *Lm 1.18;Dn 9.11-12todo este mal. 24 *Jr 6.6;33.4;Ez 21.22Eis as trincheiras já são chegadas à cidade para a tomarem, e a cidade, *Jr 32.36;Jr 29.17-18;34.17;Ez 14.21vencida pela espada, pela fome e pela peste, *Jr 32.5;Jr 20.5;21.4-7foi entregue nas mãos dos caldeus que pelejam contra ela. *Dt 4.26;Js 23.15-16;Zc 1.6O que falaste aconteceu; eis que tu o vês. 25 Tu, *Jr 32.8Senhor Jeová, me disseste: Compra o campo por dinheiro, e chama testemunhas, ainda que a cidade já está entregue nas mãos dos caldeus.

O cativeiro de Israel é decretado por causa da sua desobediência

26 Veio a palavra de Jeová a Jeremias, dizendo: 27 Eis que eu sou Jeová, *Nm 16.22;27.16Deus de toda a carne; acaso há alguma coisa *Jr 32.17;Mt 19.26demasiado difícil para mim? 28 Portanto assim diz Jeová: Eis que *Jr 32.3,24,36;Jr 19.7-12;34.2-3entregarei esta cidade nas mãos dos caldeus, e nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, e ele a tomará. 29 Os caldeus que pelejam contra esta cidade virão, *Jr 21.10;39.8;2Cr 36.19atearão fogo a esta cidade e a queimarão, juntamente *Jr 19.13;44.17-19,25;52.13com as casas, sobre cujos eirados os seus habitantes têm oferecido incenso a Baal, e derramado libações a outros deuses, para me provocarem à ira. 30 Pois os filhos de Israel e os filhos de Judá têm feito *Jr 3.25;22.21desde a sua mocidade tão somente o que era *Jr 2.7;7.22-26;Dt 9.7-12;Is 63.10mau aos meus olhos; os filhos de Israel *Jr 8.19;11.17;25.7somente me têm provocado à ira com as obras das suas mãos, diz Jeová. 31 Esta cidade, desde o dia em que a edificaram até o dia de hoje, tem servido *Jr 5.9-11;6.6-7;1Rs 11.7-8;2Rs 21.4-7,16;Mt 23.37para provocar a minha ira e o meu furor a fim de que eu *Jr 27.10;2Rs 23.27;24.3-4a remova de diante de mim, 32 por causa de toda a maldade dos filhos de Israel e dos filhos de Judá, que eles praticaram para me provocarem à ira, eles, os *Jr 2.26;44.17,21;Ed 9.7;Is 1.4-6,23seus reis, os seus príncipes, os seus sacerdotes, os seus profetas, os homens de Judá e os habitantes de Jerusalém. 33 *Jr 2.27;18.17;Ez 8.16;Zc 7.11Voltaram-me as costas, e não o rosto; embora eu os ensinasse, *Jr 25.3;26.5;35.15;2Cr 36.15-16;Jo 8.2levantando-me cedo e ensinando-os, contudo não escutaram para receberem instruções. 34 Mas *Jr 7.30-31;2Rs 21.4-7puseram as suas abominações na casa que é chamada do meu nome, para a profanarem. 35 Edificaram *Jr 7.31;19.5;2Cr 28.2-3;33.6os altos de Baal, que estão no vale do filho de Hinom, para fazerem que seus filhos e suas filhas passassem pelo fogo a *Lv 18.21;20.2-5;1Rs 11.7;2Rs 23.10;At 7.43Moloque: o que não lhes ordenei, nem entrou na minha mente, que fizessem esta abominação, para fazerem pecar a Judá.

36 Agora, pois, assim diz Jeová, Deus de Israel, acerca desta cidade, da qual vós dizeis: Já *Jr 32.24;Jr 16.12-13está entregue nas mãos do rei de Babilônia pela espada, pela fome e pela peste: 37 Eis *Jr 16.14-15;23.3,8;Dt 30.3;Sl 106.47;Is 11.11-16;Ez 11.17;Os 1.11;Am 9.14-15que os ajuntarei de todos os países para os quais os tenho arrojado na minha ira, e no meu furor, e em grande indignação; eu os tornarei a trazer para este lugar, *Jr 23.6;Ez 34.25,28;Zc 14.11e farei que habitem em segurança. 38 Eles *Jr 30.22;Ez 11.19-20serão o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus. 39 *Jr 31.33;2Cr 30.12;Jo 17.21;At 4.32Dar-lhes-ei um só coração e um só caminho, para que me temam para sempre; *Dt 11.18-21;Ez 37.25a fim de que lhes vá bem a eles e a seus filhos depois deles; 40 farei com eles *Jr 31.33;50.5;Is 55.3uma aliança sempiterna *Dt 31.6,8;Ez 39.29de não me desviar deles, para lhes fazer o bem; e *Jr 24.7;31.33porei o temor de mim nos seus corações, para que não se apartem de mim. 41 *Dt 30.9;Is 62.5;65.19Alegrar-me-ei sobre eles para lhes fazer o bem, e certamente *Jr 31.28;Am 9.15os plantarei nesta cidade com *Os 2.19-20todo o meu coração e com toda a minha alma. 42 Pois assim diz Jeová: *Jr 31.28;Zc 8.14-15Assim como fiz vir sobre este povo todo este grande mal, *Jr 33.14do mesmo modo farei vir sobre eles todo o bem que eu lhes tenho prometido. 43 Comprar-se-ão *Jr 32.15,25;Ez 37.11-14campos nesta terra, da qual vós dizeis: Erma é, sem homem nem animal; está entregue nas mãos dos caldeus. 44 Comprarão campos por dinheiro, e *Jr 32.10subscreverão os autos, e os selarão e chamarão testemunhas, *Jr 17.26;33.13na terra de Benjamim e nos lugares ao redor de Jerusalém, e nas cidades da região montanhosa, e nas cidades da Sefelá e nas cidades do Neguebe; porque *Jr 31.23;33.7,11,26farei voltar o seu cativeiro, diz Jeová.

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar. 2 For then the king of Babylon’s army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah’s house. 3 For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it; 4 And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes; 5 And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper.

6 And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 7 Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it. 8 So Hanameel mine uncle’s son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD. 9 And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle’s son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.*32.9 seventeen…: or, seven shekels and ten pieces of silver 10 And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.*32.10 subscribed…: Heb. wrote in the book 11 So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open: 12 And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle’s son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.

13 And I charged Baruch before them, saying, 14 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days. 15 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.

16 Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying, 17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:*32.17 too…: or, hid from thee 18 Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name, 19 Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:*32.19 work: Heb. doing 20 Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day; 21 And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror; 22 And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey; 23 And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them: 24 Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.*32.24 mounts: or, engines of shot 25 And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.*32.25 for the: or, though the

26 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying, 27 Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? 28 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it: 29 And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger. 30 For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD. 31 For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,*32.31 a provocation…: Heb. for my anger 32 Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.*32.33 back: Heb. neck 34 But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it. 35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

36 And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; 37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely: 38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: 39 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:*32.39 for ever: Heb. all days 40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.*32.40 from them: Heb. from after them 41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.*32.41 assuredly: Heb. in truth, or, stability 42 For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them. 43 And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans. 44 Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.
