Jeremias 26

As cidades de Judá são admoestadas

1 No princípio do reinado de *2Rs 23.36;2Cr 36.4-5Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, *Jr 7.1-2veio da parte de Jeová esta palavra, dizendo: 2 Assim diz Jeová: Põe-te no *Jr 7.2;19.14;2Cr 24.20-21;Lc 19.47-48átrio da Casa de Jeová e fala a todas as cidades de Judá, que vêm a adorar na Casa de Jeová, *Jr 1.17;42.4;At 20.20,27todas as palavras que eu te mandar que lhes fales; *Dt 4.2não omitas uma só palavra. 3 *Jr 36.3-7;Is 1.16-19Pode ser que ouçam e se convertam, cada um do seu mau caminho, *Jr 26.13,19;Jr 18.8para que eu me arrependa do mal que intento fazer-lhes por causa da maldade dos seus feitos. 4 Dir-lhes-ás: Assim diz Jeová: *Jr 17.27;22.5;Lv 26.14;1Rs 9.6;Is 1.20Se não me ouvirdes, *Jr 32.23;44.10,23para andardes na minha lei, que pus diante de vós, 5 e para ouvirdes as palavras *Jr 25.4;2Rs 9.7;Ed 9.11dos meus servos, os profetas, que eu *Jr 25.3-4vos envio, levantando-me cedo e enviando-os (porém vós não tendes escutado), 6 farei que esta casa seja como *Jr 7.12,14;1Sm 4.10-12,22;Sl 78.60-61Siló e farei desta cidade uma *Jr 24.9;25.18;2Rs 22.19maldição para todas as nações da terra. 7 *Jr 5.31;Mq 3.11Os sacerdotes, os profetas e todo o povo ouviram a Jeremias, proferindo estas palavras na Casa de Jeová.

A conspiração contra Jeremias

8 Tendo Jeremias acabado de falar tudo o que Jeová lhe ordenara que falasse a todo o povo, *Jr 2.30;20.1-2pegaram nele os sacerdotes, e os profetas, e todo o povo, dizendo: *Jr 11.19;18.23;Lm 4.13-14;Mt 21.35-36;23.34-35Certamente, morrerás. 9 Porque profetizaste em nome de Jeová, dizendo: Esta casa será *Jr 26.6como Siló, e esta cidade ficará *Jr 9.11;33.10erma e desabitada. *At 3.11;5.12Todo o povo se ajuntou a Jeremias, na Casa de Jeová.

10 Quando *Jr 26.16,21;Jr 34.19os príncipes de Judá ouviram essas coisas, *At 21.31-32subiram da casa do rei à Casa de Jeová e se assentaram *Jr 36.10à entrada da Porta Nova da Casa de Jeová. 11 Disseram *Jr 18.23os sacerdotes e os profetas aos príncipes e a todo o povo: Este homem *Dt 18.20;Mt 26.66é réu de morte, porque profetizou *Jr 38.4;At 6.11-14contra esta cidade, como ouvistes com os vossos próprios ouvidos. 12 Jeremias falou a todos os príncipes e a todo o povo: *Jr 26.2,15;Jr 1.17-18;Am 7.15;At 4.19;5.29Jeová enviou-me a profetizar contra esta casa e contra esta cidade todas as palavras que ouvistes. 13 Agora, pois, *Jr 7.3,5;18.11;35.15emendai os vossos caminhos e os vossos feitos e obedecei a voz de Jeová, vosso Deus, e Jeová *Jr 26.3;Jr 18.8;Jl 2.14;Jn 3.9;4.2se arrependerá do mal que falou contra vós. 14 Mas, quanto a mim, eis que estou *Jr 38.5;Js 9.25nas vossas mãos; fazei a mim conforme for bom e reto aos vossos olhos. 15 Tão somente ficai sabendo que, se vós me tirardes a vida, trareis *Jr 7.6;Nm 35.33;Pv 6.16-17sangue inocente sobre vós mesmos, sobre esta cidade e sobre os seus habitantes; porque, *Jr 26.2,12na verdade, Jeová me enviou a vós a falar aos vossos ouvidos todas essas palavras.

A conspiração fracassa

16 Disseram *Jr 26.11;Jr 36.19,25;38.7,13os príncipes e todo o povo aos sacerdotes e aos profetas: Este homem *At 5.34-39;23.9,29;25.25;26.31não é réu de morte, pois em nome de Jeová, nosso Deus, nos falou. 17 Levantaram-se alguns dos anciãos da terra e falaram a toda a assembleia do povo: 18 *Mq 1.1Miqueias, o morastita, profetizou nos dias de Ezequias, rei de Judá; e falou a todo o povo de Judá: Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: *Jr 9.11;Ne 4.2;Sl 79.1;Mq 3.12Sião será lavrada como um campo, e Jerusalém se tornará em montões, *Jr 17.3;Is 2.2-3;Mq 4.1;Zc 8.3e o monte da Casa, em altos cobertos de bosque. 19 Porventura, lhe tiraram a vida Ezequias, rei de Judá, e todo o Judá? Acaso, *2Cr 29.6-11;32.26;Is 37.1,4,15-20não temeu o rei a Jeová, e não se arrependeu Jeová do mal que falara contra eles? Mas *Jr 44.7;Hc 2.10nós estamos fazendo um grande mal contra as nossas almas.

20 Houve também um homem, Urias, filho de Semaías, de *Js 9.17;1Sm 6.21;7.2Quiriate-Jearim, que profetizava em nome de Jeová; e profetizou contra esta cidade e contra esta terra segundo todas as palavras de Jeremias. 21 Quando o rei Jeoaquim, e todos os seus principais homens, e todos os príncipes ouviram as palavras dele, *Jr 36.26;2Cr 16.10;Mt 14.5procurou o rei tirar-lhe a vida; mas, quando Urias o ouviu, temeu, *1Rs 19.2-4;Mt 10.23,28fugiu e foi para o Egito. 22 Enviou o rei Jeoaquim certos homens ao Egito; enviou ao Egito *Jr 36.12Elnatã, filho de Acbor, e *Jr 2.30outros homens com ele, 23 os quais tiraram do Egito a Urias e o trouxeram ao rei Jeoaquim; este o fez morrer à espada e lançou o seu cadáver nas sepulturas da plebe. 24 Porém a mão de *Jr 39.14;40.5-7;2Rs 22.12-14Aicão, filho de Safã, foi com Jeremias, de modo *Jr 1.18-19;1Rs 18.4que não foi entregue nas mãos do povo, para que o matasse.

1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word from the LORD, saying, 2 Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD’s house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD’s house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word: 3 If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings. 4 And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you, 5 To hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent unto you, both rising up early, and sending them, but ye have not hearkened; 6 Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.

7 So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD.

8 Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die. 9 Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.

10 When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king’s house unto the house of the LORD, and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD’s house.*26.10 in the…: or, at the door 11 Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy to die; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.*26.11 This man…: Heb. 12 Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard. 13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you. 14 As for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as seemeth good and meet unto you.*26.14 as…: Heb. as it is good and right in your eyes 15 But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.

16 Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God. 17 Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying, 18 Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest. 19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.*26.19 the LORD, and the: Heb. the face of the LORD, etc 20 And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the LORD, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjath-jearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah: 21 And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death: but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt; 22 And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him into Egypt. 23 And they fetched forth Urijah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king; who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.*26.23 common…: Heb. sons of the people 24 Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
