Jerusalém ameaçada de ser sitiada

1 Do meio de Jerusalém levai, filhos de Benjamim, os vossos bens para um lugar seguro; tocai a trombeta em *2Sm 14.2,4,9;2Cr 11.6;Am 1.1Tecoa e levantai o estandarte sobre *Ne 3.14Bete-Haquerém, porque da banda do *Jr 6.22;Jr 1.14;4.6Norte aparece um mal e uma grande destruição. 2 Quanto à mulher formosa e *Dt 28.56delicada, à *Jr 4.31;Is 1.8filha de Sião, eu a exterminarei. 3 A ela virão *Jr 12.10pastores com os seus rebanhos; contra ela *Jr 4.17;2Rs 25.1;Lc 19.43armarão ao redor as suas tendas; e cada um apascentará no seu lugar. 4 *Jr 6.23;Jl 3.9Preparai contra ela a guerra; levantai-vos, e subamos *Jr 15.8;Sf 2.4ao meio-dia. Ai de nós! Porque já declina o dia, porque as sombras da tarde se dilatam. 5 Levantai-vos, e subamos de noite e *Jr 52.13;Is 32.14destruamos os seus palácios. 6 Pois assim disse Jeová dos Exércitos: *Dt 20.19-20Cortai as suas árvores e levantai uma *Jr 32.24;33.4tranqueira contra Jerusalém. Esta é a cidade que foi visitada por dentro; ela *Jr 22.17está cheia de opressão. 7 *Tg 3.10-12Como o poço conserva frescas as suas águas, assim ela conserva fresca a sua malícia; *Jr 20.8;Sl 55.9-11;Ez 7.11,23a violência e o despojo se ouvem nela; diante de mim estão sem cessar *Jr 30.12-13a enfermidade e as feridas. 8 *Jr 7.28;17.23Deixa-te ser admoestada, Jerusalém, *Ez 23.18;Os 9.12para que não se aparte de ti a minha alma, para que eu não te torne em desolação e em terra não habitada.

9 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: Na verdade, *Jr 16.16;49.9;Ob 5,6rabiscarão como uma vinha *Jr 8.3;11.23o resto de Israel; torna a tua mão, como vindimador, às gavinhas. 10 A quem falarei e darei testemunho, para que ouçam? Eis que os seus *Jr 4.4;5.21;7.26;At 7.51ouvidos estão incircuncidados e eles não podem escutar; eis que *Jr 20.8a palavra de Jeová se lhes tornou em opróbrio; nela não têm prazer. 11 Por isso, estou *Jó 32.18-19;Mq 3.8cheio do furor de Jeová; estou *Jr 15.6;20.9cansado de me conter. *Jr 7.20;9.21Derrama-o sobre os meninos na rua e juntamente sobre a assembleia dos mancebos. Pois o marido será tomado com a mulher, o velho, com o que está cheio de dias; 12 as suas *Jr 8.10;38.22;Dt 28.30casas passarão a outros, os campos e igualmente as mulheres, porque *Jr 15.6estenderei a minha mão sobre os habitantes da terra, diz Jeová. 13 *Jr 8.10;22.17Desde o menor até o maior deles, cada um se entrega à *Jr 8.10;22.17;Is 56.11;57.17cobiça; e, desde o profeta até o sacerdote, cada um procede perfidamente. 14 Também *Jr 8.11-12;Ez 13.10curam superficialmente o mal do meu povo, dizendo: Paz, paz; quando não há paz. 15 Serão *Jr 3.3;8.12envergonhados, por terem cometido abominação, esses que de maneira alguma sentem vergonha, nem tampouco sabem que coisa é confundir-se. Portanto, cairão entre os que caem; no tempo em que eu os visitar, tropeçarão, diz Jeová.

A queda de Jerusalém sobrevirá por causa das suas iniquidades

16 Assim diz Jeová: Ponde-vos nos caminhos, vede e perguntai pelas *Jr 12.16;18.15;31.21;Is 8.20;Ml 4.4;Lc 16.29antigas veredas, onde está o bom caminho; andai nele e *Mt 11.29achareis descanso para as vossas almas. Mas disseram: Não andaremos nele. 17 Eu pus sobre vós *Jr 25.4;Is 21.11;58.1;Ez 3.17;Hc 2.1atalaias, dizendo: Escutai o som da trombeta; mas disseram: Não escutaremos. 18 Portanto ouvi, ó nações, e informa-te, ó congregação, do que se acha entre eles. 19 *Jr 22.29;Is 1.2Ouve, terra. Eis que vou *Jr 19.3,15trazer calamidades sobre este povo, a saber, *Pv 1.31o fruto dos seus pensamentos, porque não escutaram as minhas palavras e *Jr 8.9rejeitaram a minha lei. 20 *Sl 40.6;50.7-9;Is 1.11;66.3;Am 5.21;Mq 6.6Para que, pois, me vem de Sabá *Is 60.6o incenso, e dum país remoto a *Êx 30.23cana aromática? Os vossos *Jr 7.21;14.12holocaustos não me são aceitos, nem os vossos sacrifícios me são agradáveis. 21 Portanto, assim diz Jeová: Eis que *Jr 13.16;Is 8.14vou pôr tropeços diante deste povo, e tropeçarão neles juntamente *Jr 9.21-22;Is 9.14-17os pais e os filhos; o vizinho e o seu amigo perecerão.

22 Assim diz Jeová: Eis que da terra do Norte *Jr 1.15;5.15;10.22;50.41-43vem um povo, e *Ne 1.9dos últimos confins da terra será suscitada uma grande nação. 23 Trazem *Jr 4.29;Is 13.18arco e escudo; são *Jr 50.42cruéis e não têm misericórdia; a voz deles *Is 5.30brama como o mar, e montam em cavalos, disposto cada um como homem de guerra contra ti, filha de Sião. 24 Temos *Jr 4.19-21;Is 28.19ouvido a fama disso: afrouxam-se as nossas mãos; apoderaram-se de nós a angústia e *Jr 4.31;13.21;30.6;Is 21.3as dores como as da mulher que está de parto. 25 *Jr 14.18Não saiais ao campo, nem andeis pelo caminho, porque ali está *Jr 12.12a espada do inimigo, *Jr 20.10;46.5;49.29e há terror por todos os lados. 26 Ó filha do meu povo, *Jr 4.8cinge-te de saco e *Jr 25.34;Mq 1.10revolve-te na cinza; *Am 8.10;Zc 12.10toma luto como por um filho único, pranto amargosíssimo; porque de repente virá sobre nós o despojador.

27 Por averiguador e fortaleza *Jr 1.18;15.20te pus entre o meu povo, para que saibas e *Jr 9.7examines o seu caminho. 28 Todos eles são sobremaneira *Jr 5.23refratários, *Jr 9.4andam espalhando calúnias, são *Ez 22.18cobre e ferro; *Jr 6.13todos eles procedem aleivosamente. 29 Sopram a fole, consumido está do fogo o chumbo; debalde, continuam a fundição, porque os *Jr 15.19iníquos não são separados. 30 *Sl 119.119;Is 1.22Prata de refugo lhes chamarão, porque Jeová *Jr 7.29os refugou.

1 O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Beth-haccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction. 2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.*6.2 comely: or, dwelling at home 3 The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place. 4 Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out. 5 Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

6 For thus hath the LORD of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.*6.6 cast…: or, pour out the engine of shot 7 As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds. 8 Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.*6.8 depart: Heb. be loosed, or, disjointed

9 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets. 10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it. 11 Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days. 12 And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD. 13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. 14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.*6.14 hurt: Heb. bruise, or, breach 15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD. 16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. 17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

18 Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. 19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it. 20 To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me. 21 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish. 22 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth. 23 They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion. 24 We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail. 25 Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.

26 O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us. 27 I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and try their way. 28 They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters. 29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away. 30 Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them.*6.30 Reprobate…: or, Refuse silver
