1 Responde-me quando clamo,

ó Deus da minha justiça!

Dá-me alívio da minha angústia;

tem misericórdia de mim e ouve a minha oração.

2 Ó homens, até quando vocês ultrajarão a minha honra?*4.2 Ou desonrarão aquele em quem me glorio?

Até quando amarão ilusões

e buscarão mentiras?*4.2 Ou deuses falsos?Pausa

3 Saibam que o Senhor separa para si aqueles que lhe são fiéis;

o Senhor me ouve quando eu o invoco.

4 Quando ficarem irados,*4.4 Ou Quando vocês se agitarem; ou ainda Quando vocês tremerem com medo. não pequem;

ao deitar-se, reflitam no seu íntimo

e aquietem-se. Pausa

5 Ofereçam sacrifícios justos

e confiem no Senhor.

6 Muitos perguntam: "Quem nos fará desfrutar o bem?".

Faz, ó Senhor, resplandecer sobre nós

a luz do teu rosto!

7 Puseste no meu coração alegria maior

do que a alegria dos que desfrutam trigo e vinho em tempo de fartura.

8 Em paz me deito e logo adormeço,

pois só tu, Senhor,

me fazes viver em segurança.

1 Answer me when I call to you,

my righteous God.

Give me relief from my distress;

have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame?

How long will you love delusions and seek false gods*4:2 Or seek lies?*4:2 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here and at the end of verse 4.

3 Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself;

the Lord hears when I call to him.

4 Tremble and*4:4 Or In your anger (see Septuagint) do not sin;

when you are on your beds,

search your hearts and be silent.

5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous

and trust in the Lord.

6 Many, Lord, are asking, "Who will bring us prosperity?"

Let the light of your face shine on us.

7 Fill my heart with joy

when their grain and new wine abound.

8 In peace I will lie down and sleep,

for you alone, Lord,

make me dwell in safety.
