Para o mestre de música. Com instrumentos de cordas. Salmo de Asafe. Cântico.

1 Em Judá Deus é conhecido;

o seu nome é grande em Israel.

2 A sua tenda está em Salém;

o lugar da sua habitação está em Sião.

3 Ali quebrou ele as flechas reluzentes,

os escudos e as espadas, as armas de guerra. Pausa

4 Resplandeces de luz!

És mais majestoso que os montes cheios de despojos.

5 Os homens valorosos jazem saqueados,

dormem o sono final;

nenhum dos guerreiros

foi capaz de erguer as mãos.

6 Diante da tua repreensão, ó Deus de Jacó,

cavalos e carros de guerra caíram inertes.

7 Somente tu és temível.

Quem poderá permanecer diante de ti quando estiveres irado?

8 Dos céus pronunciaste juízo;

a terra tremeu e emudeceu

9 quando tu, ó Deus, te levantaste para julgar,

para salvar todos os oprimidos da terra. Pausa

10 Até a tua ira contra a humanidade redundará no teu louvor,

e os sobreviventes à tua ira se refrearão.*76.10 Ou Até a ira dos homens redundará no teu louvor, / e com o restante da ira tu te armas.

11 Façam votos ao Senhor, o seu Deus,

e não deixem de cumpri-los;

que todas as nações vizinhas tragam presentes

ao Deus temível.

12 Ele tira o ânimo dos governantes

e é temido pelos reis da terra.

1 God is renowned in Judah;

in Israel his name is great.

2 His tent is in Salem,

his dwelling place in Zion.

3 There he broke the flashing arrows,

the shields and the swords, the weapons of war.*76:3 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here and at the end of verse 9.

4 You are radiant with light,

more majestic than mountains rich with game.

5 The valiant lie plundered,

they sleep their last sleep;

not one of the warriors

can lift his hands.

6 At your rebuke, God of Jacob,

both horse and chariot lie still.

7 It is you alone who are to be feared.

Who can stand before you when you are angry?

8 From heaven you pronounced judgment,

and the land feared and was quiet—

9 when you, God, rose up to judge,

to save all the afflicted of the land.

10 Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise,

and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.*76:10 Or Surely the wrath of mankind brings you praise, / and with the remainder of wrath you arm yourself

11 Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them;

let all the neighboring lands

bring gifts to the One to be feared.

12 He breaks the spirit of rulers;

he is feared by the kings of the earth.
