1 Por que as nações se enfurecem tanto?

Por que perdem seu tempo com planos inúteis?

2 Os reis da terra se preparam para a batalha;

os governantes conspiram juntos,

contra o Senhor

e contra seu ungido.

3 "Vamos quebrar estas correntes!", eles dizem.

"Vamos nos libertar da escravidão!"

4 Aquele que governa nos céus ri;

o Senhor zomba deles.

5 Então, em sua ira, ele os repreende

e, com sua fúria, os aterroriza.

6 Ele diz: "Estabeleci meu rei no trono

em Sião, em meu santo monte".

7 O rei proclama o decreto do Senhor:

"O Senhor me disse: ‘Você é meu filho;*2.7a Ou Filho; também em 2.12.

hoje eu o gerei.*2.7b Ou hoje eu o revelo como meu filho.

8 Basta pedir e lhe darei as nações como herança,

a terra inteira como sua propriedade.

e as despedaçará como vasos de barro’".

10 Portanto, reis, sejam prudentes!

Aceitem a advertência, governantes da terra!

11 Sirvam ao Senhor com temor,

alegrem-se nele com tremor.

12 Sujeitem-se ao filho,*2.12 O significado do hebraico é incerto. para que ele não se ire

e vocês não sejam destruídos de repente,

pois sua ira se acende num instante;

felizes, porém, os que nele se refugiam!

2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
