Oração de um aflito que derrama seus problemas diante do Senhor.

1 Senhor, ouve minha oração,

escuta minha súplica!

2 Não escondas de mim o rosto

na hora de minha aflição.

Inclina-te para ouvir

e responde-me depressa quando clamo a ti.

3 Pois meus dias somem como fumaça;

como brasas ardentes, meus ossos queimam.

4 Meu coração está esgotado, secou-se como capim;

até perdi o apetite.

5 Por causa de minha ansiedade,

não passo de pele e osso.

6 Sou como a coruja no deserto,

como a pequena coruja num lugar desolado.

7 Não consigo dormir;

sou como o pássaro solitário no telhado.

8 Todos os dias meus inimigos me insultam;

zombam de mim e me amaldiçoam.

9 As cinzas são meu alimento,

e as lágrimas se misturam com minha bebida,

10 por causa de tua ira e de tua fúria,

pois me levantaste e depois me lançaste fora.

11 Minha vida passa rápido, como as sombras que se vão;

vou murchando, como o capim.

12 Tu, porém, Senhor, reinarás para sempre;

teu nome será lembrado por todas as gerações.

13 Tu te levantarás e terás misericórdia de Sião;

já é tempo de lhe mostrar compaixão,

este é o momento esperado.

14 Pois teus servos amam cada pedra de seus muros

e estimam até mesmo o pó em suas ruas.

15 As nações temerão o nome do Senhor,

os reis da terra estremecerão diante de sua glória.

16 Pois o Senhor reconstruirá Sião;

ele aparecerá em sua glória.

17 Ouvirá as orações dos indefesos

e não rejeitará suas súplicas.

18 Fique isto registrado para as gerações futuras,

para que um povo ainda não criado louve o Senhor.

19 Contem-lhes que o Senhor olhou para baixo,

de seu santuário celeste.

Do alto olhou para a terra,

20 para ouvir o gemido dos prisioneiros,

para libertar os condenados à morte.

21 Assim, o nome do Senhor será proclamado em Sião,

seu louvor, em Jerusalém,

22 quando os povos se reunirem

e os reinos vierem para servir ao Senhor.

23 No meio de minha vida, ele me tirou as forças

e me encurtou os dias.

24 Mas eu clamei a ele: "Ó meu Deus, que vive para sempre,

não tires minha vida enquanto ainda sou jovem!".

25 Muito tempo atrás, lançaste os fundamentos da terra

e com as tuas mãos formaste os céus.

26 Eles deixarão de existir, mas tu permanecerás para sempre;

eles se desgastarão, como roupa velha.

Tu os trocarás, como se fossem vestuário,

e os jogarás fora.

27 Tu, porém, és sempre o mesmo;

teus dias jamais terão fim.

28 Os filhos de teus servos viverão em segurança,

e seus descendentes prosperarão em tua presença.

A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before the LORD.

1 Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.*102.1 of: or, for

4 My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.

5 By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.*102.5 skin: or, flesh

6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.

7 I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.

8 Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.

9 For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,

10 Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.

11 My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.

12 But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.

13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.

14 For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.

15 So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.

16 When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.

17 He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.

18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.

19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;

20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;*102.20 those…: Heb. the children of death

21 To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;

22 When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

23 He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.*102.23 weakened: Heb. afflicted

24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.

25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:*102.26 endure: Heb. stand

27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

28 The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.
