| 5 | A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent. | A bolond megútálja az õ atyjának tanítását; a ki pedig megbecsüli a dorgálást, igen eszes. |
| 6 | In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble. | Az igaznak házában nagy kincs van; az istentelennek jövedelmében pedig háborúság. |
| 7 | The lips of the wise diffuse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so. | A bölcseknek ajkaik hintegetnek tudományt; a bolondoknak pedig elméje nem helyes. |
| 8 | The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. | Az istentelenek áldozatja gyûlölséges az Úrnak; az igazak könyörgése pedig kedves néki. |
| 9 | The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD; but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness. | Utálat az Úrnál az istentelennek úta; azt pedig, a ki követi az igazságot, szereti. |

| 16 | Better is little with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure and trouble with it. | Jobb a kevés az Úrnak félelmével, mint a temérdek kincs, a hol háborúság van. |
| 17 | Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred with it. | Jobb a paréjnak étele, a hol szeretet van, mint a hízlalt ökör, a hol van gyûlölség. |
| 18 | A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife. | A haragos férfiú szerez háborúságot; a hosszútûrõ pedig lecsendesíti a háborgást. |
| 19 | The way of the slothful man is as a hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain. | A restnek útja olyan, mint a tövises sövény; az igazaknak pedig útja megegyengetett. |
| 20 | A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother. | A bölcs fiú örvendezteti az atyját; a bolond ember pedig megútálja az anyját. |
| 21 | Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly. | A bolondság öröme az esztelennek; de az értelmes férfiú igazán jár. |

| 23 | A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good it is! | Öröme van az embernek szája feleletében; és az idejében [mondott] beszéd, oh mely igen jó! |
| 24 | The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath. | Az életnek úta felfelé van az értelmes ember számára, hogy eltávozzék a pokoltól, mely aláfelé van. |
| 25 | The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow. | A kevélyeknek házát kiszakgatja az Úr; megerõsíti pedig az özvegynek határát. |
| 26 | The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words. | Útálatosak az Úrnak a gonosz gondolatok; de kedvesek a tiszta beszédek. |
| 27 | He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live. | Megháborítja az õ házát, a ki követi a telhetetlenséget; a ki pedig gyûlöli az ajándékokat, él az. |
| 28 | The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things. | Az igaznak elméje meggondolja, mit szóljon; az istenteleneknek pedig szája ontja a gonoszt. |
| 29 | The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous. | Messze [van] az Úr az istentelenektõl; az igazaknak pedig könyörgését meghallgatja. |
| 30 | The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; and a good report maketh the bones fat. | A szemek világa megvidámítja a szívet; a jó hír megerõsíti a csontokat. |
| 31 | The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise. | A mely fül hallgatja az életnek dorgálását, a bölcsek között lakik. |
| 32 | He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. | A ki elvonja magát az erkölcsi tanítástól, megútálja az õ lelkét; a ki pedig hallgatja a feddést, értelmet szerez. |
| 33 | The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom: and before honor is humility. | Az Úrnak félelme a bölcseségnek tudománya, és a tisztességnek elõtte jár az alázatosság. |
