| 5 | Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. | Útálatos az Úrnak minden, a ki elméjében felfuvalkodott, kezemet adom rá, hogy nem marad büntetetlen. |
| 6 | By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. | Könyörületességgel és igazsággal töröltetik el a bûn; és az Úrnak félelme által távozhatunk el a gonosztól. |

| 10 | A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment. | Jósige van a király ajkain; az ítéletben ne szóljon hamisságot az õ szája. |
| 11 | A just weight and balance are the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag are his work. | Az Úré az igaz mérték és mérõserpenyõ, az õ mûve minden mérõkõ. |
| 12 | It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness. | Útálatos legyen a királyoknál istentelenséget cselekedni; mert igazsággal erõsíttetik meg a királyiszék. |
| 13 | Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right. | Kedvesek a királyoknak az igaz beszédek; és az igazmondót szereti [a király.] |
| 14 | The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it. | A királynak felgerjedt haragja [olyan, mint] a halál követe; de a bölcs férfiú leszállítja azt. |

| 19 | Better it is to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. | Jobb alázatos lélekkel lenni a szelídekkel, mint zsákmányon osztozni a kevélyekkel. |
| 20 | He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoever trusteth in the LORD, happy is he. | A ki figyelmez az igére, jót nyer; és a ki bízik az Úrban, oh mely boldog az! |
| 21 | The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. | A ki elméjében bölcs, hívatik értelmesnek; a beszédnek pedig édessége neveli a tudományt. |
| 22 | Understanding is a well-spring of life to him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly. | Életnek kútfeje az értelem [annak], a ki bírja azt; de a bolondok fenyítéke bolondságuk. |
| 23 | The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. | A bölcsnek elméje értelmesen igazgatja az õ száját, és az õ ajkain öregbíti a tudományt. |
| 24 | Pleasant words are as a honey-comb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. | Lépesméz a gyönyörûséges beszédek; édesek a léleknek, és meggyógyítói a tetemeknek. |
| 25 | There is a way that seemeth right to a man, but the end of it is the ways of death. | Van oly út, mely igaz az ember szeme elõtt, de vége a halálnak úta. |
| 26 | He that laboreth laboreth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him. | A munkálkodó lelke magának munkálkodik; mert az õ szája kényszeríti õt. |
| 27 | An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire. | A haszontalan ember gonoszt ás ki, és az õ ajkain mintegy égõ tûz van; |
| 28 | A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends. | A gonosz ember versengést szerez, és a susárló elválasztja a jó barátokat. |
| 29 | A violent man enticeth his neighbor, and leadeth him into the way that is not good. | Az erõszakos ember elhiteti az õ felebarátját, és nem jó úton viszi õt. |
| 30 | He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass. | A ki behúnyja szemeit, [azért teszi], hogy álnokságot gondoljon; a ki összeszorítja ajkait, [már] véghez vitte a gonoszságot. |
| 31 | The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness. | Igen szép ékes korona a vénség, az igazságnak útában találtatik. |
| 32 | He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city. | Jobb a hosszútûrõ az erõsnél; és a ki uralkodik a maga indulatján, annál, a ki várost vesz meg. |
| 33 | The lot is cast into the lap: but the whole disposing of it is from the LORD. | Az [ember] kebelében vetnek sorsot; de az Úrtól van annak minden ítélete. |
