2 \85:1\Lord, you were good to your land: changing the fate of Jacob.
3 \85:2\The wrongdoing of your people had forgiveness; all their sin had been covered. (Selah.)
4 \85:3\You were no longer angry: you were turned from the heat of your wrath.
5 \85:4\Come back to us, O God of our salvation, and be angry with us no longer.
6 \85:5\Will you go on being angry with us for ever? will you keep your wrath against us through all the long generations?
7 \85:6\Will you not give us life again, so that your people may be glad in you?
8 \85:7\Let us see your mercy, O Lord, and give us your salvation.
9 \85:8\I will give ear to the voice of the Lord; for he will say words of peace to his people and to his saints; but let them not go back to their foolish ways.
10 \85:9\Truly, his salvation is near to his worshippers; so that glory may be in our land.
11 \85:10\Mercy and faith have come together; righteousness and peace have given one another a kiss.
12 \85:11\Faith comes up from the earth like a plant; righteousness is looking down from heaven.
13 \85:12\The Lord will give what is good; and our land will give its increase.
14 \85:13\Righteousness will go before him, making a way for his footsteps.

2 Jehova, du hast Gunst erzeigt deinem Lande, hast die Gefangenschaft Jakobs gewendet;
3 Du hast vergeben die Ungerechtigkeit deines Volkes, all ihre Sünde hast du zugedeckt. (Sela.)
4 Du hast zurückgezogen all deinen Grimm, hast dich abgewendet von der Glut deines Zornes.
5 Führe uns zurück, Gott unseres Heils, und mache deinem Unwillen gegen uns ein Ende!
6 Willst du ewiglich wider uns zürnen? Willst du deinen Zorn währen lassen von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht?
7 Willst du uns nicht wieder beleben, daß dein Volk sich in dir erfreue?
8 Laß uns, Jehova, deine Güte sehen, und dein Heil gewähre uns!
9 Hören will ich, was Gott, {El} Jehova, reden wird; denn {O. ja} Frieden wird er reden zu seinem Volke und zu seinen Frommen, - nur daß sie nicht zur Torheit zurückkehren!
10 Fürwahr, nahe ist sein Heil denen, die ihn fürchten, damit die Herrlichkeit wohne in unserem Lande.
11 Güte und Wahrheit sind sich begegnet, Gerechtigkeit und Friede haben sich geküßt.
12 Wahrheit wird sprossen aus der Erde, und Gerechtigkeit herniederschauen vom Himmel.
13 Auch wird Jehova das Gute geben, und unser Land wird darreichen seinen Ertrag.
14 Die Gerechtigkeit wird vor ihm einhergehen und ihre Tritte zu seinem Wege machen. {O. seine Tritte zu ihrem Wege machen, d.h. ihm nachfolgen}
