2 \83:1\O God, do not keep quiet: let your lips be open and take no rest, O God.
3 \83:2\For see! those who make war on you are out of control; your haters are lifting up their heads.
4 \83:3\They have made wise designs against your people, talking together against those whom you keep in a secret place.
5 \83:4\They have said, Come, let us put an end to them as a nation; so that the name of Israel may go out of man's memory.
6 \83:5\For they have all come to an agreement; they are all joined together against you:
7 \83:6\The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagarites;
8 \83:7\Gebal and Ammon and Amalek; the Philistines and the people of Tyre;
9 \83:8\Assur is joined with them; they have become the support of the children of Lot. (Selah.)
10 \83:9\Do to them what you did to the Midianites; what you did to Sisera and Jabin, at the stream of Kishon:
11 \83:10\Who came to destruction at En-dor; their bodies became dust and waste.
12 \83:11\Make their chiefs like Oreb and Zeeb; and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna:
13 \83:12\Who have said, Let us take for our heritage the resting-place of God.
14 \83:13\O my God, make them like the rolling dust; like dry stems before the wind.
15 \83:14\As fire burning a wood, and as a flame causing fire on the mountains,
16 \83:15\So go after them with your strong wind, and let them be full of fear because of your storm.
17 \83:16\Let their faces be full of shame; so that they may give honour to your name, O Lord.
18 \83:17\Let them be overcome and troubled for ever; let them be put to shame and come to destruction;
19 \83:18\So that men may see that you only, whose name is Yahweh, are Most High over all the earth.

2 Gott, schweige nicht {Eig. sei nicht ruhig, untätig}; verstumme nicht und sei nicht stille, o Gott {El} !
3 Denn siehe, deine Feinde toben, und deine Hasser erheben das Haupt.
4 Wider dein Volk machen sie listige Anschläge, und beraten sich wider deine Geborgenen. {O. Schützlinge}
5 Sie sprechen: Kommet und lasset uns sie vertilgen, daß sie keine Nation mehr seien, daß nicht mehr gedacht werde des Namens Israel!
6 Denn sie haben sich beraten mit einmütigem Herzen, sie haben einen Bund wider dich gemacht:
7 Die Zelte Edoms und die {O. der} Ismaeliter, Moab und die Hageriter,
8 Gebal und Ammon und Amalek, Philistäa samt den Bewohnern von Tyrus;
9 Auch Assur hat sich ihnen angeschlossen; sie sind zu einem Arm geworden den Söhnen Lots. (Sela.)
10 Tue ihnen wie Midian, wie Sisera, wie Jabin am Bache Kison;
11 Die vertilgt wurden zu En-Dor, die dem Erdboden zum Dünger wurden!
12 Mache sie, ihre Edlen, wie Oreb und wie Seeb, und wie Sebach und wie Zalmunna alle ihre Herrscher! {Eig. Eingesetzte}
13 Weil sie {O. Welche} gesagt haben: Lasset uns in Besitz nehmen die Wohnungen Gottes!
14 Mein Gott, mache sie gleich einem Staubwirbel, gleich Stoppeln vor dem Winde!
15 Wie Feuer den Wald verbrennt, und wie eine Flamme die Berge entzündet,
16 Also verfolge sie mit deinem Wetter, und mit deinem Sturmwinde schrecke sie hinweg!
17 Fülle ihr Angesicht mit Schande, damit sie deinen Namen, Jehova, suchen!
18 Laß sie beschämt und hinweggeschreckt werden für immer, und mit Scham bedeckt werden und umkommen,
19 Und erkennen, {O. damit sie erkennen} daß du allein, dessen Name Jehova ist, der Höchste bist über die ganze Erde!
