1 Hear, Yahweh, and answer me,

for I am poor and needy.

2 Preserve my soul, for I am godly.

You, my God, save your servant who trusts in you.

3 Be merciful to me, Lord,

for I call to you all day long.

4 Bring joy to the soul of your servant,

for to you, Lord, do I lift up my soul.

5 For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,

abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you.

6 Hear, Yahweh, my prayer.

Listen to the voice of my petitions.

7 In the day of my trouble I will call on you,

for you will answer me.

8 There is no one like you among the gods, Lord,

nor any deeds like your deeds.

9 All nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord.

They shall glorify your name.

10 For you are great, and do wondrous things.

You are God alone.

11 Teach me your way, Yahweh.

I will walk in your truth.

Make my heart undivided to fear your name.

12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with my whole heart.

I will glorify your name forever more.

13 For your loving kindness is great toward me.

You have delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol.

14 God, the proud have risen up against me.

A company of violent men have sought after my soul,

and they don’t hold regard for you before them.

15 But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God,

slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth.

16 Turn to me, and have mercy on me!

Give your strength to your servant.

Save the son of your servant.

17 Show me a sign of your goodness,

that those who hate me may see it, and be shamed,

because you, Yahweh, have helped me, and comforted me.

1 Ein Gebet Davids. Neige dein Ohr, o HERR, und erhöre mich; denn ich bin elend und arm;

2 bewahre meine Seele, denn ich bin dir zugetan; rette du, mein Gott, deinen Knecht, der sich auf dich verläßt!

3 Sei mir gnädig, o Herr; denn zu dir rufe ich allezeit!

4 Erfreue die Seele deines Knechtes; denn zu dir, Herr, erhebe ich meine Seele!

5 Denn du, Herr, bist gut und vergibst gern und bist reich an Gnade gegen alle, die dich anrufen.

6 Vernimm, o HERR, mein Gebet, und merke auf die Stimme meines Flehens!

7 Am Tage meiner Not rufe ich dich an; denn du erhörst mich.

8 Dir, Herr, ist keiner gleich unter den Göttern, und nichts gleicht deinen Werken!

9 Alle Nationen, die du gemacht, werden kommen und vor dir anbeten, o Herr, und deinem Namen Ehre geben;

10 denn du bist groß und tust Wunder, du Gott allein!

11 HERR, zeige mir deinen Weg, daß ich wandle in deiner Wahrheit; richte mein Herz auf das Eine, daß ich deinen Namen fürchte!

12 Ich will dich, Herr, mein Gott, von ganzem Herzen preisen und deinem Namen ewig Ehre erweisen.

13 Denn deine Gnade ist groß gegen mich, und du hast meine Seele aus der Tiefe des Totenreiches errettet.

14 O Gott, es sind Stolze wider mich aufgestanden, und eine Rotte von Frevlern trachtet mir nach dem Leben und haben dich nicht vor Augen;

15 du aber, Herr, bist ein barmherziger und gnädiger Gott, langsam zum Zorn und von großer Gnade und Treue.

16 Wende dich zu mir und sei mir gnädig, verleihe deinem Knechte deine Stärke und hilf dem Sohn deiner Magd!

17 Tue ein Zeichen an mir zum Guten, so werden meine Hasser zu ihrer Beschämung sehen, daß du, HERR, mir geholfen und mich getröstet hast.
