1 Aquele que habita no esconderijo do Altíssimo, À sombra do Todo-poderoso descansará.2 De Jeová direi: Ele é o meu refúgio e a minha fortaleza, Deus meu, em quem confio.3 Pois ele me livrará do laço do passarinheiro, E da peste perniciosa.4 Cobrir-te-á de suas penas, E sob as suas asas encontrarás refúgio: Pavês e escudo é a sua verdade.5 Não te assustarás do terror noturno, Nem da seta que voa de dia.6 Nem da pestilência que anda nas trevas, Nem da destruição que assola ao meio dia.7 Ainda que caiam mil ao teu lado, E dez mil à tua destra, Ela não se chegará a ti.8 Somente com os teus olhos contemplarás, E verás a recompensa dos perversos.9 Pois tu, Jeová, és o meu refúgio! Fizeste o Altíssimo a tua morada.10 Nenhum mal te sucederá, Nem praga alguma se aproximará da tua tenda.11 Pois aos seus anjos ordenará ao teu respeito, Que te guardem em todos os teus caminhos.12 Eles te susterão nas suas mãos, Para não tropeçares em alguma pedra.13 Pisarás o leão e a cobra, Calcarás aos pés o leãozinho e a serpente.14 Pois que ele me consagrou o seu afeto, eu o livrarei; Pô-lo-ei em alto retiro, porque ele conhece o meu nome.15 Clamará a mim, e lhe responderei: Com ele serei na angústia, Livrá-lo-ei e o glorificarei.16 Saciá-lo-ei com diuturnidade de dias, E mostrar-lhe-ei a minha salvação.

1 He who lives under the shelter of the Most High will remain in the shadow of the Almighty.2 I will say to Jehovah: »You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.«3 He is the one who will rescue you from the bird hunter’s trap fowler’s snare and from deadly plagues.4 He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge. His truth is your shield and armor.5 You will not be afraid of the terror of the night and arrows that fly during the day,6 plagues that roam the dark, epidemics that strike at noon.7 They will not come near you, even though a thousand may fall dead beside you or ten thousand at your right side.8 You only have to look with your eyes to see the punishment of wicked people.9 »You, O Jehovah, are my refuge!« You have made the Most High your home.10 No harm will come to you. No sickness will come near your house.11 He will put his angels in charge of you to protect you in all your ways.12 They will carry you in their hands so that you never strike your foot against a rock.13 You will step on lions and cobras. You will trample underfoot young lions and snakes.14 Because you love me, I will rescue you. I will protect you because you know my name.15 When you call to me, I will answer you. I will be with you when you are in trouble. I will deliver you and honor you.16 I will satisfy you with a long life. I will show you my salvation.
