1 Για σένα Σιών δεν θα σωπάσω, ούτε για σένα θα ησυχάσω, Ιερουσαλήμ, ωσότου ολόλαμπρη προβάλει η λύτρωσή σου, λαμπάδα αναμμένη η σωτηρία σου.

2 Τα έθνη θα δουν τη λύτρωσή σου και όλοι οι βασιλιάδες τη δόξα σου. Θα ονομαστείς μ’ ένα καινούργιο όνομα που θα σ’ το δώσει ο Κύριος ο ίδιος. 3 Θα ’σαι στεφάνι ατίμητο στο χέρι του Κυρίου, μες στην παλάμη του Θεού σου στέμμα βασιλικό. 4 Και τ’ όνομά σου πια δε θα ’ναι "η εγκαταλειμμένη" ούτε η χώρα σου θα ονομάζεται πια "η έρημη" αλλά θα λέγεσαι "η αγαπημένη του Θεού" κι η χώρα σου θα λέγεται "η γυναίκα του"· γιατί ο Κύριος θα σε ξαναγαπήσει και θα ’ναι για τη χώρα σου ο άντρας της. 5 Όπως ο νέος ενώνεται σε γάμο με παρθένα, έτσι κι ο πλάστης σου*ο πλάστης σου Το εβρ. έχει «οι γιοι σου», λόγω διαφορετικού φωνηεντισμού. μ’ εσένα θα ενωθεί. Κι όπως χαρά για το γαμπρό είναι η νύφη, έτσι χαρά για το Θεό σου θα ’σαι εσύ.

6 Πάνω στα τείχη σου, έβαλα φρουρούς, Ιερουσαλήμ· ολημερίς κι ολονυχτίς δεν πρέπει να σωπάσουν. Εσείς, φρουροί, που όλα τα υπενθυμίζετε στον Κύριο, μην ησυχάζετε καθόλου. 7 Κι αυτόν μην τον αφήνετε να ησυχάσει, ωσότου αποκαταστήσει την Ιερουσαλήμ, ωσότου κάνει πάνω στη γη όλοι να τη δοξάσουν. 8 Ο Κύριος έδωσε ένορκη υπόσχεση στο λαό του και με την παντοδυναμία του την εγγυήθηκε: «Το στάρι σου δεν θα το δώσω πια να τρέφονται οι εχθροί σου και το κρασί σου, που γι’ αυτό κουράστηκες, δε θα το πίνουν πια οι αλλοεθνείς. 9 Μα αυτοί που θα θερίζουν κι αυτοί που θα τρυγούν, θα τρώνε το ψωμί· το κρασί θα πίνουν στις άγιες μου αυλές κι αυτοί θα με δοξάζουν».

10 Περάστε εσείς, οι κάτοικοι της Ιερουσαλήμ, βγείτε απ’ της πόλης σας τις πύλες! Το δρόμο ετοιμάστε για το λαό που επιστρέφει! Ανοίξτε, ανοίξτε δρόμο, κι από τις πέτρες καθαρίστε τον, σημαία σηκώστε να τη βλέπουν οι λαοί! 11 Ο Κύριος διακήρυξε στα πέρατα της γης: «Πείτε στην πόλη της Σιών, "νάτος ο σωτήρας σου, έρχεται! Φέρνει μαζί του το λαό που έσωσε· αυτός είναι η ανταμοιβή του"». 12 Θα λέγονται «άγιος λαός», από τον Κύριο λυτρωμένος· κι εσύ θα ονομαστείς «πόλη ποθητή», όχι εγκαταλειμμένη.

5 For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.*62.5 as the…: Heb. with the joy of the bridegroom

6 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,*62.6 make…: or, are the LORD’s remembrancers 7 And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.*62.7 rest: Heb. silence 8 The LORD hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:*62.8 Surely…: Heb. If I give, etc 9 But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the LORD; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.

10 Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people. 11 Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.*62.11 work: or, recompence 12 And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.
