1 Ο Κύριος λέει: «Το δίκιο προστατέψτε το κι ασκείτε τη δικαιοσύνη, γιατί σύντομα θα ’ρθει η σωτηρία μου, η δικαιοσύνη μου θα φανερωθεί. 2 Μακάριος ο άνθρωπος που τα εφαρμόζει αυτά, που σέβεται το Σάββατο και δεν το βεβηλώνει και που αποφεύγει να κάνει το κακό».

3 Ας μη σκεφτεί κανείς αλλοεθνής, που έχει προσκολληθεί στον Κύριο, ότι μπορεί ο Κύριος να τον χωρίσει από το λαό του. Ας μη σκεφτεί κανείς ευνούχος ότι είναι δέντρο ξερό.

4 Γιατί ο Κύριος λέει: «Τους ευνούχους που τηρούν τα Σάββατά μου και εκτελούν αυτά που μ’ ευαρεστούν μένοντας πιστοί στη διαθήκη μου, 5 μες στο ναό μου και στα τείχη μου θα τους δώσω μνημείο με το όνομά τους, ώστε να τους θυμούνται περισσότερο απ’ αυτούς που έχουν γιους και θυγατέρες.

6 »Τους αλλοεθνείς που μ’ αγαπάνε κι έχουν προσκολληθεί στο λαό μου για να με υπηρετούν και να ’ναι δούλοι μου, όλους εκείνους που τηρούν το Σάββατο και δεν το βεβηλώνουν και μένουνε πιστοί στη διαθήκη μου, 7 εγώ θα τους οδηγήσω στο άγιο μου βουνό, και στο ναό μου θα τους δώσω αγαλλίαση. Τα ολοκαυτώματά τους κι οι θυσίες τους θα είναι δεκτές στο θυσιαστήριό μου, γιατί ο ναός μου θα ονομαστεί οίκος προσευχής για όλους τους λαούς».

8 Λέει ο Κύριος ο Θεός, που θα συναθροίσει τους διασκορπισμένους του Ισραήλ: «Θα συναθροίσω ακόμα κι άλλους μαζί μ’ εκείνους που έχουν κιόλας συναθροιστεί».

9 Ο Κύριος λέει: «Όλα εσείς τα ζώα του αγρού, μπείτε εδώ και βοσκήστε, όλα εσείς τα ζώα των δρυμών. 10 Του λαού μου οι φύλακες είναι όλοι τους τυφλοί, τίποτα δεν καταλαβαίνουν! Όλοι τους είναι σκύλοι άφωνοι, που δεν μπορούνε να γαβγίσουν. Κάθονται μόνο κάτω κι ονειρεύονται, τους αρέσει ο ύπνος. 11 Είναι ακόμα σκύλοι αδηφάγοι, όσα κι αν έχουνε ποτέ δεν είναι αρκετά. Είναι ηγέτες δίχως σύνεση· καθένας τους τον δρόμο του τραβάει, καθένας τους ζητάει το συμφέρον του. 12 Και μεθυσμένοι τραγουδούν:

"Κρασί θα φέρω, ελάτε,

με δυνατό ας γλεντήσουμε ποτό!

Το αύριο θα είναι όμοιο με το σήμερα,

κι η αφθονία ακόμα πιο μεγάλη!"»

1 Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.*56.1 judgment: or, equity 2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.

3 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. 4 For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; 5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. 6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; 7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. 8 The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.*56.8 beside…: Heb. to his gathered

9 All ye beasts of the field, come to devour, yea, all ye beasts in the forest. 10 His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.*56.10 sleeping: or, dreaming, or, talking in their sleep 11 Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.*56.11 greedy: Heb. strong of appetite*56.11 can…: Heb. know not to be satisfied 12 Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.
