1 Aleluia. Amo o Senhor, porque ele ouviu a voz de minha súplica,2 porque inclinou para mim os seus ouvidos no dia em que o invoquei.3 Os laços da morte me envolviam, a rede da habitação dos mortos me apanhou de improviso; estava abismado na aflição e na ansiedade.4 Foi então que invoquei o nome do Senhor: Ó Senhor, salvai-me a vida!5 O Senhor é bom e justo, cheio de misericórdia é nosso Deus.6 O Senhor cuida dos corações simples; achava-me na miséria e ele me salvou.7 Volta, minha alma, à tua serenidade, porque o Senhor foi bom para contigo,8 pois livrou-me a alma da morte, preservou-me os olhos do pranto, os pés da queda.9 Na presença do Senhor continuarei o meu caminho na terra dos vivos.10 Salmo. Conservei a confiança ainda quando podia dizer: Em verdade sou extremamente infeliz.11 Em meu pavor eu dizia: O homem é um apoio falaz.12 Mas que poderei retribuir ao Senhor por tudo o que ele me tem dado?13 Erguerei o cálice da salvação, invocando o nome do Senhor.14 Cumprirei os meus votos para com o Senhor, na presença de todo o seu povo.15 É penoso para o Senhor ver morrer os seus fiéis.16 Senhor, eu sou vosso servo; vosso servo, filho de vossa serva: quebrastes os meus grilhões.17 Oferecer-vos-ei um sacrifício de louvor, invocando o nome do Senhor.18 Cumprirei os meus votos para com o Senhor, na presença de todo o seu povo,19 nos átrios da casa do Senhor, no teu recinto, ó Jerusalém!

1 It is lovely to me that the Lord heareth my voice, my supplications.2 For he hath inclined his ear unto me: therefore throughout all my days will I call on him.3 The bands of death had compassed me, and the pangs of the nether world had overtaken me; I had met with distress and sorrow:4 I then called on the name of the Lord, I beseech thee, O Lord, release my soul.5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; and our God is merciful.6 The Lord preserveth the simple: I was in misery, and he helped me.7 Return, O my soul, unto thy rest; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from falling.9 I will walk before the Lord in the land of life.10 I believe, therefore will I speak: I was greatly afflicted;11 I indeed said in my despondency, Every man is a liar.12 What shall I give in return unto the Lord for all his bounties toward me?13 The cup of salvation will I lift up, and on the name of the Lord will I call.14 My vows will I pay unto the Lord, yea, in the presence of all his people.15 Grievous in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his pious ones.16 O Lord, truly am I thy servant, I am thy servant,––the son of thy handmaid: thou hast loosened my fetters.17 Unto thee will I offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and on the name of the Lord will I call.18 My vows will I pay unto the Lord, yea, in the presence of all his people,19 In the courts of the house of the Lord, in thy midst, O Jerusalem.
