1 Ao mestre de canto. Salmo de Davi. Cântico. Levanta-se Deus; eis que se dispersam seus inimigos, e fogem diante dele os que o odeiam.2 Eles se dissipam como a fumaça, como a cera que se derrete ao fogo. Assim perecem os maus diante de Deus.3 Os justos, porém, exultam e se rejubilam em sua presença, e transbordam de alegria.4 Cantai à glória de Deus, cantai um cântico ao seu nome, abri caminho para o que em seu carro avança pelo deserto. Senhor é o seu nome, exultai em sua presença.5 É o pai dos órfãos e o protetor das viúvas, esse Deus que habita num templo santo.6 Aos abandonados Deus preparou uma casa, conduz os cativos à liberdade e ao bem-estar; só os rebeldes ficam num deserto ardente.7 Ó Deus, quando saíeis à frente de vosso povo, quando avançáveis pelo deserto,8 a terra tremia, os próprios céus rorejavam diante de vós, o monte Sinai estremecia na presença do Deus de Israel.9 Sobre vossa herança fizestes cair generosa chuva, e restaurastes suas forças fatigadas.10 Vosso rebanho fixou habitação numa terra que vossa bondade, ó Deus, lhe havia preparado.11 Apenas o Senhor profere uma palavra, tornam-se numerosas as mulheres que anunciam a boa nova:12 Fogem, fogem os reis dos exércitos; os habitantes partilham os despojos.13 Enquanto entre os rebanhos repousáveis, as asas da pomba refulgiam como prata, e de ouro era o brilho de suas penas.14 Quando o Todo-poderoso dispersava os reis, caía a neve sobre o Salmon.15 Os montes de Basã são elevados, alcantilados são os montes de Basã.16 Montes escarpados, por que invejais a montanha que Deus escolheu para morar, para nela estabelecer uma habitação eterna?17 São milhares e milhares os carros de Deus: do Sinai vem o Senhor ao seu santuário.18 Subindo nas alturas levastes os cativos; recebestes homens como tributos, aqueles que recusaram habitar com o Senhor Deus.19 Bendito seja o Senhor todos os dias; Deus, nossa salvação, leva nossos fardos:20 nosso Deus é um Deus que salva, da morte nos livra o Senhor Deus.21 Sim, Deus parte a cabeça de seus inimigos, o crânio hirsuto do que persiste em seus pecados.22 Dissera o Senhor: Ainda que seja de Basã, eu os farei voltar, eu os trarei presos das profundezas do mar,23 para que banhes no sangue os teus pés, e a língua de teus cães receba dos inimigos seu quinhão.24 Contemplam a vossa chegada, ó Deus, a entrada do meu Deus, do meu rei, no santuário;25 Vêm na frente os cantores, atrás os tocadores de cítara; no meio, as jovens tocando tamborins.26 Bendizei a Deus nas vossas assembléias, bendizei ao Senhor, filhos de Israel!27 Eis Benjamim, o mais jovem, que vai na frente; depois os príncipes de Judá, com seus esquadrões; os príncipes de Zabulon, os príncipes de Neftali.28 Mostrai, ó Deus, o vosso poder, esse poder com que atuastes em nosso favor.29 Pelo vosso templo em Jerusalém, ofereçam-vos presentes os reis!30 Reprimi a fera dos canaviais, a manada dos touros com os novilhos das nações pagãs. Que eles se prosternem com barras de prata. Dispersai as nações que se comprazem na guerra.31 Aproximem-se os grandes do Egito, estenda a Etiópia suas mãos para Deus.32 Reinos da terra, cantai à glória de Deus, cantai um cântico ao Senhor,33 que é levado pelos céus, pelos céus eternos; eis que ele fala, sua voz é potente:34 Reconhecei o poder de Deus! Sua majestade se estende sobre Israel, sua potência aparece nas nuvens.35 De seu santuário, temível é o Deus de Israel; é ele que dá ao seu povo a força e o poder. Bendito seja Deus!

1 To the chief musician, by David, a Psalm or song.(68:2) Oh that God would arise, that his enemies might be scattered, and those that hate him might flee before him.2 (68:3) As smoke is driven off, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.3 (68:4) But the righteous shall rejoice; they shall exult before God: yea, they shall be exceedingly joyful.4 (68:5) Sing unto God, sing praises to his name; extol him who rideth upon the heavens: the Everlasting is his name, and rejoice before him.5 (68:6) A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.6 (68:7) God places those who are solitary in the midst of their families: he bringeth out those who are bound unto happiness; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.7 (68:8) O God, when thou didst go forth before thy people, when thou didst tread along through the wilderness––Selah––8 (68:9) The earth quaked, also the heavens dropped at the presence of God, yea, this Sinai, at the presence of God, the God of Israel.9 (68:10) Rain of beneficence didst thou pour down, O God, whereby thou didst truly strengthen thy heritage, when it was weary.10 (68:11) Thy assembly dwelt therein: thou didst prepare it with thy goodness for the afflicted people. O God,11 (68:12) The Lord gave happy tidings; they are published by the female messengers, a numerous host.12 (68:13) The kings of the armies flee away––flee away: yet she that tarried at home divideth the spoil.13 (68:14) When ye lie still between the folds of your cattle, ye will be like the wings of the dove covered with sliver, and her pinions shining with flaming gold.14 (68:15) When the Almighty scattered kings in the midst of her, then even in darkness shone light as pure as snow.15 (68:16) A mountain of God is the mount of Bashan; many peaks hath the mount of Bashan.16 (68:17) Why watch ye enviously, ye many–peaked mountains, yonder mountain which God hath chosen for his residence? yea, the Lord will also dwell there for ever.17 (68:18) The chariots of God are two myriads; thousands of angels follow him: the Lord is among them: so is Sinai holy among mountains.18 (68:19) Thou didst ascend on high, lead away captives, receive gifts among men, yea, even the rebellious, to dwell among them. O Lord God.19 (68:20) Blessed be the Lord; day by day he loadeth us with benefits; our God is our salvation. Selah.20 (68:21) Our God is to us the God of salvation: and by the Eternal the Lord are the escapes from death.21 (68:22) But God will crush the head of his enemies, the hairy skull of him who walketh in his guiltiness.22 (68:23) The Lord hath said, From Bashan will I bring back, I will bring back from the depths of the sea:23 (68:24) In order that thou mayest wade with thy feet in blood, feeding the tongue of thy dogs from the enemies’ blood.24 (68:25) Men see thy goings forth, O God! the goings forth of my God, my King, into the sanctuary.25 (68:26) First come singers, then follow players on instruments, in the midst of maidens playing on timbrels.26 (68:27) In assemblies bless ye God, praise the Lord, ye sprung from Israel’s fountain.27 (68:28) There Benjamin the youngest leadeth them on, the princes of Judah in purple robes, the princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali.28 (68:29) Thy God hath ordained the rule to thee: strengthen, O God, what thou hast wrought for us.29 (68:30) Because of thy temple over Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto thee.30 (68:31) Rebuke the wild beasts hiding among the reeds, the troops of steers among the calves of nations, that hasten along with presents of silver. He scattereth nations that are eager for the fight.31 (68:32) Nobles will come out of Egypt: Ethiopia will stretch forth eagerly her hands unto God.32 (68:33) Kingdoms of the earth, sing unto God; sing praises unto the Lord: Selah;33 (68:34) To him who rideth over the highest heavens, of ancient days: hear! he sendeth forth his voice, the voice of might.34 (68:35) Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the skies.35 (68:36) Thou art tremendous, O God, from thy holy residences: O God of Israel, thou art he that givest strength and power unto thy people.
