1 Ao mestre de canto. Hino de Davi. Quando Doeg, o idumeu, veio dizer a Saul: Davi entrou na casa de Aquimelec. Por que te glorias de tua malícia, ó infame prepotente?2 Continuamente maquinas a perdição; tua língua é afiada navalha, tecedora de enganos.3 Tu preferes o mal ao bem, a mentira à lealdade.4 Só gostas de palavras perniciosas, ó língua pérfida!5 Por isso Deus te destruirá, há de te excluir para sempre; ele te expulsará de tua tenda, e te extirpará da terra dos vivos.6 Vendo isto, tomados de medo, os justos zombarão de ti, dizendo:7 Eis o homem que não tomou a Deus por protetor, mas esperou na multidão de suas riquezas e se prevaleceu de seus próprios crimes.8 Eu sou, porém, como a virente oliveira na casa de Deus: confio na misericórdia de Deus para sempre.9 Louvar-vos-ei eternamente pelo que fizestes e cantarei vosso nome, na presença de vossos fiéis, porque é bom.
1 To the chief musician, a Maskil of David, (52:2) When Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Achimelech. (52:3) What vauntest thou thyself of wickedness, O mighty man? the kindness of God endureth all the time.2 (52:4) Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs, like a sharpened razor, thou worker of deceit.3 (52:5) Thou lovest evil more than good; falsehood more than speaking righteousness. Selah.4 (52:6) Thou lovest all words of destruction, the tongue of deceit.5 (52:7)Therefore God will also destroy thee for ever: he will take thee away, and pluck thee out of his tent, and root thee out of the land of life. Selah.6 (52:8) And the righteous shall see it, and they will be afraid, and laugh concerning him:7 (52:9) "Lo, this is the man that made not God his fortress; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, relied proudly on his mischievous wickedness."8 (52:10) But I am like a green olivetree in the house of God: I trust in the kindness of God for ever and ever.9 (52:11) I will thank thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for it is good, before thy pious ones.
