1 Hino de Etã, ezraíta. Cantarei, eternamente, as bondades do Senhor; minha boca publicará sua fidelidade de geração em geração.2 Com efeito, vós dissestes: A bondade é um edifício eterno. Vossa fidelidade firmastes no céu.3 Concluí, dizeis vós, uma aliança com o meu eleito; liguei-me por juramento a Davi, meu servo.4 Conservarei tua linhagem para sempre, manterei teu trono em todas as gerações.5 Senhor, os céus celebram as vossas maravilhosas obras, e na assembléia dos anjos a vossas fidelidade.6 Quem poderá, nas nuvens, igualar-se a Deus? Quem é semelhante ao Senhor entre os filhos de Deus?7 Terrível é Deus na assembléia dos santos, maior e mais tremendo que todos os que o cercam.8 Quem se compara a vós, Senhor, Deus dos exércitos? Sois forte, Senhor, e cheio de fidelidade.9 Dominais o orgulho do mar, amainais suas ondas revoltas.10 Calcastes Raab e o transportastes; com poderoso braço dispersastes vossos inimigos.11 Vossos são os céus e também a terra, vós que criastes o globo e tudo o que ele contém.12 O norte e o sul vós os fizestes; Tabor e Hermon em vosso nome exultam.13 Tendes o poder em vosso braço, a firmeza na mão, a autoridade em vossa destra.14 A justiça e o direito são o fundamento de vosso trono, a bondade e a fidelidade vos precedem.15 Feliz o povo que vos sabe louvar: caminha na luz de vossa face, Senhor.16 Vosso nome lhe é causa de contínua alegria, pela vossa justiça ele se glorifica,17 porque sois o esplendor de sua força, e é vosso favor que nos faz erguer a cabeça,18 pois no Senhor está o nosso escudo, e nosso rei no Santo de Israel.19 Outrora, em visão, falastes aos vossos santos e dissestes-lhes: Impus a coroa a um herói, escolhi meu eleito dentre o povo.20 Encontrei Davi, meu servidor, e o sagrei com a minha santa unção.21 Assistir-lhe-á sempre a minha mão, e meu braço o fortalecerá.22 Não o há de surpreender o inimigo, nem ousará oprimi-lo o malvado.23 Sob seus olhos esmagarei os seus contrários, serão feridos aqueles que o odeiam.24 Com ele ficarão minha fidelidade e bondade, pelo meu nome crescerá o seu poder.25 Estenderei a sua mão por sobre o mar, e a sua destra acima dos rios.26 Ele me invocará: Vós sois meu Pai, vós sois meu Deus e meu rochedo protetor.27 Por isso eu o constituirei meu primogênito, o mais excelso dentre todos os reis da terra.28 Assegurado lhe estará o favor eterno, e indissolúvel será meu pacto com ele.29 Dar-lhe-ei uma perpétua descendência, seu trono terá a duração dos céus.30 Se, porém, seus filhos abandonarem minha lei, se não observarem os meus preceitos,31 se violarem as minhas prescrições e não obedecerem às minhas ordens,32 eu punirei com vara a sua transgressão, e a sua falta castigarei com açoite.33 Mas não lhe retirarei o meu favor e não trairei minha promessa.34 não violarei minha aliança, não mudarei minha palavra dada.35 Jurei uma vez por todas pela minha santidade: a Davi não faltarei jamais.36 Sua posteridade permanecerá eternamente, e seu trono, como o sol, subsistirá diante de mim,37 como a lua que existirá sem fim, e o arco-íris, fiel testemunha nos céus.38 E, contudo, vós o repelistes e rejeitastes, gravemente vos irritastes contra aquele que vos é consagrado.39 Rompestes a aliança feita com o vosso servidor, lançastes por terra sua coroa,40 derrubastes todos os seus muros, arruinastes as suas fortalezas.41 Saquearam-no todos os transeuntes, e o escarneceram os seus vizinhos.42 A mão de seus inimigos exaltastes, de gozo enchestes todos os seus contrários.43 Embotastes o fio de sua espada, não o sustentastes na batalha.44 Fizestes terminar seu esplendor, por terra derrubastes o seu trono.45 Abreviastes a sua adolescência, e de ignomínia o cobristes.46 Até quando, Senhor? Até quando continuareis escondido? Até quando estará acesa a vossa cólera?47 Lembrai-vos como é curta a nossa vida, quão efêmeros os homens que criastes.48 Qual é o vivo que se livra da morte, ou pode subtrair a sua alma ao poder da morada dos mortos?49 Vossas bondades de outrora, ó Senhor, onde estão? E os juramentos que a Davi fizestes de fidelidade?50 Considerai, Senhor, a vergonha imposta aos vossos servidores. Levo em meu seio ultrajes das nações pagãs,51 insultos de vossos inimigos, Senhor, injúrias que lançam até nos passos daquele que vos é consagrado.52 Bendito seja o Senhor eternamente! Amém! Amém!

1 A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrachite.(89:2) The kindnesses of the Lord will I for ever sing: from generation to generation will I make known thy faithfulness with my mouth.2 (89:3) For I have said, To eternity will kindness be built up: the heavens––yea, in these wilt thou establish thy faithfulness.3 (89:4) "I have made a covenant with my elect, I have sworn unto David my servant,4 (89:5) Unto eternity will I establish thy seed, and I will build up thy throne, from generation to generation." Selah.5 (89:6) And the heavens praise thy wonder, O Lord: also thy faithfulness in the assembly of holy ones.6 (89:7) For who in the sky can be compared unto the Lord? who can be likened unto the Lord among the sons of the mighty?7 (89:8) God is greatly terrific in the secret council of the holy ones and fear–inspiring over all that are about him.8 (89:9) O Lord God of hosts, who is powerful, like thee, Eternal! and thy faithfulness is round about thee.9 (89:10) Thou rulest over the pride of the sea: when its waves are lifted up, thou assuagest them.10 (89:11) Thou didst crush Rahab as one that is slain: with thy strong arm didst thou scatter thy enemies.11 (89:12) Thine are the heavens, also thine is the earth: as for the world and what filleth it, thou hast founded them.12 (89:13) The north and the south––these hast thou created: Tabor and Chermon shall rejoice in thy name.13 (89:14) Thine is the powerful arm, with might: strong is thy hand, and exalted is thy right hand.14 (89:15) Righteousness and justice are the prop of thy throne: kindness and truth precede thy presence.15 (89:16) Happy is the people that know the cornet’s sound: O Lord, in the light of thy countenance will they ever walk firmly.16 (89:17) In thy name will they be glad all the day, and in thy righteousness will they be exalted.17 (89:18) For thou art the glory of their strength; and through thy favor will our horn be exalted.18 (89:19) For of the Lord is our shield; and of the Holy One of Israel is our king.19 (89:20) Then spokest thou in a vision to thy pious servant, and saidst, "I have bestowed help to one that is mighty; I have exalted a youth out of the people;20 (89:21) I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him;21 (89:22) With whom my hand shall be firmly established; also my arm shall strengthen him;22 (89:23) The enemy shall not exact from him like a lender: and the son of injustice shall not afflict him:23 (89:24) And I will beat down before his face his assailants, and those that hate him will I plague.24 (89:25) But my faithfulness and my kindness shall be with him: and through my name shall his horn be exalted.25 (89:26) And I will place on the sea his hand, and on the rivers his right hand.26 (89:27) He will call unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.27 (89:28) Also I will appoint my first–born, the highest among the kings of the earth.28 (89:29) For evermore will I keep for him my kindness, and my covenant shall stand faithfully with him.29 (89:30) And I appoint for ever his seed, and his throne as the days of heaven.30 (89:31) If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my ordinances;31 (89:32) If they profane my statutes, and keep not my commandments:32 (89:33) Then will I visit with the rod their transgressions, and with plagues their iniquity.33 (89:34) Nevertheless my kindness will I not make utterly void from him, and I will not act falsely against my faithfulness.34 (89:35) I will not profane my covenant, and what is gone out of my lips will I not alter.35 (89:36) One thing have I sworn by my holiness, that I will not lie unto David.36 (89:37) His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne shall be like the sun before me.37 (89:38) Like the moon shall it be firmly established for ever, and as this faithful witness in the sky." Selah.38 (89:39) And yet thou hast east off and despised, thou hast become wroth with thy anointed.39 (89:40) Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned, down to the ground, his crown.40 (89:41) Thou hast broken down all his fences: thou hast brought his strong–holds to terror.41 (89:42) All that pass by the way plunder him: he is become a reproach to his neighbors.42 (89:43) Thou hast raised up the right hand of his assailants: thou hast caused all his enemies to rejoice.43 (89:44) Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not let him stand erect in the battle.44 (89:45) Thou hast made his brilliancy cease; and his throne hast thou thrown down to the ground.45 (89:46) Thou hast shortened the days of his youth: thou hast enshrouded him with shame.
