1 Lamentação de Davi, que cantou em honra do Senhor, por causa de Cus, o benjaminita. Senhor, ó meu Deus, é em vós que eu busco meu refúgio; salvai-me de todos os que me perseguem e livrai-me,2 para que o inimigo não me arrebate como um leão, e me dilacere sem que ninguém me livre.3 Senhor, ó meu Deus, se acaso fiz isso, se minhas mãos cometeram a iniqüidade,4 se fiz mal ao homem pacífico, se oprimi os que me perseguiam sem motivo,5 que o inimigo me persiga e me apanhe, que ele me pise vivo ao solo e atire a minha honra ao pó.6 Levantai-vos, Senhor, na vossa cólera; erguei-vos contra o furor dos que me oprimem, erguei-vos para me defender numa causa que tomastes a vós.7 Que a assembléia das nações vos circunde, presidi-a de um trono elevado.8 O Senhor é o juiz dos povos. Fazei-me justiça, Senhor, segundo o meu justo direito, conforme minha integridade.9 Ponde fim à malícia dos ímpios e sustentai o direito, ó Deus de justiça, que sondais os corações e os rins.10 O meu escudo é Deus, ele salva os que têm o coração reto.11 Deus é um juiz íntegro, um Deus perpetuamente vingador.12 Se eles não se corrigem, ele afiará a espada, entesará o arco e visará.13 Contra os ímpios apresentará dardos mortíferos, lançará flechas inflamadas.14 Eis que o mau está em dores de parto, concebe a malícia e dá à luz a mentira.15 Abre um fosso profundo, mas cai no abismo por ele mesmo cavado.16 Sua malícia recairá em sua própria cabeça, e sua violência se voltará contra a sua fronte.17 Eu, porém, glorificarei o Senhor por sua justiça, e salmodiarei ao nome do Senhor, o Altíssimo.

1 A Shiggayon of David, which he sang unto the Lord, concerning the affairs of Cush the Benjamite. (7:2) O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust; save me from every one of my persecutors, and deliver me:2 (7:3) Lest he tear like a lion my soul, rending it in pieces, with none to deliver.3 (7:4) O Lord my God, if I have done this; if there be injustice in my hands;4 (7:5) If I have recompensed him that was at peace with me with evil; If I have taken aught from my assailants without cause:5 (7:6) May the enemy hotly pursue my soul, and overtake it; and tread down upon the earth my life, and cause my honor to be in the dust. Selah.6 (7:7) Arise, O Lord, in thy anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of my enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.7 (7:8) So shall the congregation of nations compass thee about: and for their sakes return thou to the height.8 (7:9) The Lord will judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity grant me recompense.9 (7:10) Oh let the evil of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just, O thou, who triest the hearts and reins, O righteous God.10 (7:11) My protection is by God, who saveth the upright in heath.11 (7:12) God is a righteous judge, and a God who is indignant with the wicked every day.12 (7:13) If he turn not, He will whet his sword, he bendeth his bow, and maketh it ready.13 (7:14) Also for him he prepareth the instruments of death; he fashioneth his arrows against the persecutors.14 (7:15) Behold, he travaileth with wrong doing; but he hath conceived mischief, and bringeth forth falsehood.15 (7:16) He hath hollowed out a pit, and dug it, and is fallen into the ditch which he hath wrought.16 (7:17) His mischief will return upon his own head, and upon his own skull will his violence come down.17 (7:18) I will thank the Lord according to his righteousness; and I will sing praises to the name of the Lord the Most High.
