1 [A Song of degrees.] When Jehovah turned the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with rejoicing: then said they among the nations, Jehovah hath done great things for them.3 Jehovah hath done great things for us; {and} we are joyful.4 Turn our captivity, O Jehovah, as the streams in the south.5 They that sow in tears shall reap with rejoicing:6 He goeth forth and weepeth, bearing seed for scattering; he cometh again with rejoicing, bearing his sheaves.

Quand l'Eternel ramena les captifs de Sion, nous étions comme ceux qui songent.2 Alors notre bouche fut remplie de joie, et notre langue de chant de triomphe, alors on disait parmi les nations : l'Eternel a fait de grandes choses à ceux-ci;3 L'Eternel nous a fait de grandes choses; nous [en] avons été réjouis.4 Ô Eternel! ramène nos prisonniers, [en sorte qu'ils soient] comme les courants [des eaux] au pays du Midi.5 Ceux qui sèment avec larmes, moissonneront avec chant de triomphe.6 Celui qui porte la semence pour la mettre en terre, ira son chemin en pleurant, mais il reviendra avec chant de triomphe, quand il portera ses gerbes.
