1 [A Psalm. Of Asaph.] *God, Elohim-Jehovah, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined forth.

3 Our God will come, and will not keep silence: fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.

4 He will call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people:

5 Gather unto me my godly ones, those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice!

6 And the heavens shall declare his righteousness; for God executeth judgment himself. Selah.

7 Hear, my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify unto thee: I am God, thy God.

8 I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices, or thy burnt-offerings, continually before me;

9 I will take no bullock out of thy house, {nor} he-goats out of thy folds:

10 For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle upon a thousand hills;

11 I know all the fowl of the mountains, and the roaming creatures of the field are mine:

12 If I were hungry, I would not tell thee; for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.

13 Should I eat the flesh of bulls, and drink the blood of goats?

14 Offer unto God thanksgiving, and perform thy vows unto the Most High;

15 And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

16 But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant into thy mouth,

17 Seeing thou hast hated correction and hast cast my words behind thee?

18 When thou sawest a thief, thou didst take pleasure in him, and thy portion was with adulterers;

19 Thou lettest thy mouth loose to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit;

20 Thou sittest {and} speakest against thy brother, thou revilest thine own mother's son:

21 These {things} hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether as thyself: {but} I will reprove thee, and set {them} in order before thine eyes.

22 Now consider this, ye that forget +God, lest I tear in pieces, and there be no deliverer.

23 Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me; and to him that ordereth {his} way will I shew the salvation of God.

1 Psaume d'Asaph Le [Dieu] Fort, le Dieu, l'Eternel a parlé, et il a appelé toute la terre, depuis le soleil levant jusques au soleil couchant.

2 Dieu a fait luire sa splendeur de Sion, qui est d'une beauté parfaite.

3 Notre Dieu viendra, il ne se taira point : il y aura devant lui un feu dévorant, et tout autour de lui une grosse tempête.

4 Il appellera les cieux d'en haut, et la terre, pour juger son peuple, [en disant] :

5 Assemblez-moi mes bien-aimés qui ont traité alliance avec moi sur le sacrifice.

6 Les cieux aussi annonceront sa justice : parce que Dieu est le juge; Sélah.

7 Ecoute, ô mon peuple, et je parlerai; [entends], Israël, et je te sommerai; je suis Dieu, ton Dieu, moi.

8 Je ne te reprendrai point pour tes sacrifices, ni pour tes holocaustes, qui ont été continuellement devant moi.

9 Je ne prendrai point de veau de ta maison, ni de boucs de tes parcs.

10 Car toute bête de la forêt est à moi, [et] les bêtes aussi qui paissent en mille montagnes.

11 Je connais tous les oiseaux des montagnes; et toute sorte de bêtes des champs est à mon commandement.

12 Si j'avais faim, je ne t'en dirais rien; car la terre habitable est à moi, et tout ce qui est en elle.

13 Mangerais-je la chair des gros taureaux? et boirais-je le sang des boucs?

14 Sacrifie louange à Dieu, et rends tes vœux au Souverain.

15 Et invoque-moi au jour de ta détresse, je t'en tirerai hors, et tu me glorifieras.

16 Mais Dieu a dit au méchant : qu'as-tu que faire de réciter mes statuts, et de prendre mon alliance en ta bouche;

17 Vu que tu hais la correction, et que tu as jeté mes paroles derrière toi?

18 Si tu vois un larron, tu cours avec lui; et ta portion est avec les adultères.

19 Tu lâches ta bouche au mal, et par ta langue tu trames la fraude;

20 Tu t'assieds [et] parles contre ton frère, [et] tu couvres d'opprobre le fils de ta mère.

21 Tu as fait ces choses-là, et je m'en suis tu; [et] tu as estimé que véritablement je fusse comme toi; [mais] je t'en reprendrai, et je déduirai [le tout] par ordre en ta présence.

22 Entendez cela maintenant, vous qui oubliez Dieu; de peur que je ne vous ravisse, et qu'il n'y ait personne qui vous délivre.

23 Celui qui sacrifie la louange me glorifiera; et à celui qui prend garde à sa voie, je montrerai la délivrance de Dieu.
