1 O give thanks to Jehovah! Call upon his name. Make his work known among the people.2 Sing to him, give praise to him! Declare all his wondrous works.3 Praise his holy name! Let the heart of those rejoice who seek Jehovah.4 Seek Jehovah and seek his strength. Seek his presence constantly!5 Remember the marvelous works that he has done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth.6 You seed of Abraham his servant, you children of Jacob his chosen ones.7 He is Jehovah our God: his judgments are in all the earth.8 He has remembered his covenant forever! It is the word he commanded to a thousand generations.9 He made this covenant with Abraham and gave his oath to Isaac.10 He confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant.11 He said: »I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance to you.«12 They were a few men in number, very few, and strangers in it.13 They went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people.14 He permitted no man to do them wrong and he reproved kings for their sakes.15 He said: »Do not touch my anointed, and do my prophets no harm.«16 Furthermore, he called for a famine on the land: he broke the whole staff of bread.17 He sent a man before them, Joseph, who was sold for a servant.18 Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:19 Jehovahs presence tested him through fiery trials until the time that his word came.20 The king sent someone to release him. The ruler of nations set him free.21 He made Joseph the master of his palace and the ruler of all his possessions.22 Joseph trained the king's officers the way he wanted and taught his respected leaders wisdom.23 Then Israel came to Egypt. Jacob lived as a foreigner in the land of Ham.24 Jehovah made his people grow rapidly in number and stronger than their enemies.25 He changed their minds so that they hated his people, and they dealt treacherously with his servants.26 He sent his servant Moses, and he sent Aaron, whom he had chosen.27 They displayed his miraculous signs among them and did amazing things in the land of Ham.28 He sent darkness and made their land dark. They did not rebel against his orders.29 He turned their water into blood and caused their fish to die.30 He made their land swarm with frogs, even in the kings' bedrooms.31 He spoke, and swarms of flies and gnats infested their entire territory.32 He gave them hail and lightning instead of rain throughout their land.33 He struck their grapevines and fig trees and smashed the trees in their territory.34 He spoke, and countless locusts and grasshoppers came.35 They devoured all the plants in the land. They devoured the crops in the fields.36 He killed all the firstborn sons, the first ones born in the land when their fathers were young.37 He brought Israel out with silver and gold, and no one among his tribes stumbled.38 The Egyptians were terrified of Israel, so they were glad when Israel left.39 He spread out a cloud as a protective covering and a fire to light up the night.40 The Israelites asked, and he brought them quail and filled them with bread from heaven.41 He opened a rock, and water flowed like a river through the dry places.42 He remembered his holy word to his servant Abraham.43 He brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with a song of joy.44 He gave them the lands of other nations. They inherited what others had worked for.45 Then they would obey his laws and follow his teachings. Praise Jehovah!
1 Dai graças ao Senhor; invocai o seu nome; fazei conhecidos os seus feitos entre os povos.2 Cantai-lhe, cantai-lhe louvores; falai de todas as suas maravilhas.3 Gloriai-vos no seu santo nome; regozije-se o coração daqueles que buscam ao Senhor.4 Buscai ao Senhor e a sua força; buscai a sua face continuamente.5 Lembrai-vos das maravilhas que ele tem feito, dos seus prodígios e dos juízos da sua boca,6 vós, descendência de Abraão, seu servo, vós, filhos de Jacó, seus escolhidos.7 Ele é o Senhor nosso Deus; os seus juízos estão em toda a terra.8 Lembra-se perpetuamente do seu pacto, da palavra que ordenou para mil gerações;9 do pacto que fez com Abraão, e do seu juramento a Isaque;10 o qual ele confirmou a Jacó por estatuto, e a Israel por pacto eterno,11 dizendo: A ti darei a terra de Canaã, como porção da vossa herança.12 Quando eles eram ainda poucos em número, de pouca importância, e forasteiros nela,13 andando de nação em nação, dum reino para outro povo,14 não permitiu que ninguém os oprimisse, e por amor deles repreendeu reis, dizendo:15 Não toqueis nos meus ungidos, e não maltrateis os meus profetas.16 Chamou a fome sobre a terra; retirou-lhes todo o sustento do pão.17 Enviou adiante deles um varão; José foi vendido como escravo;18 feriram-lhe os pés com grilhões; puseram-no a ferro,19 até o tempo em que a sua palavra se cumpriu; a palavra do Senhor o provou.20 O rei mandou, e fez soltá-lo; o governador dos povos o libertou.21 Fê-lo senhor da sua casa, e governador de toda a sua fazenda,22 para, a seu gosto, dar ordens aos príncipes, e ensinar aos anciãos a sabedoria.23 Então Israel entrou no Egito, e Jacó peregrinou na terra de Cam.24 E o Senhor multiplicou sobremodo o seu povo, e o fez mais poderoso do que os seus inimigos.25 Mudou o coração destes para que odiassem o seu povo, e tratassem astutamente aos seus servos.26 Enviou Moisés, seu servo, e Arão, a quem escolhera,27 os quais executaram entre eles os seus sinais e prodígios na terra de Cam.28 Mandou à escuridão que a escurecesse; e foram rebeldes à sua palavra.29 Converteu-lhes as águas em sangue, e fez morrer os seus peixes.30 A terra deles produziu rãs em abundância, até nas câmaras dos seus reis.31 Ele falou, e vieram enxames de moscas em todo o seu termo.32 Deu-lhes saraiva por chuva, e fogo abrasador na sua terra.33 Feriu-lhes também as vinhas e os figueirais, e quebrou as árvores da sua terra.34 Ele falou, e vieram gafanhotos, e pulgões em quantidade inumerável,35 que comeram toda a erva da sua terra, e devoraram o fruto dos seus campos.36 Feriu também todos os primogênitos da terra deles, as primícias de toda a sua força.37 E fez sair os israelitas com prata e ouro, e entre as suas tribos não havia quem tropeçasse.38 O Egito alegrou-se quando eles saíram, porque o temor deles o dominara.39 Estendeu uma nuvem para os cobrir, e um fogo para os alumiar de noite.40 Eles pediram, e ele fez vir codornizes, e os saciou com pão do céu.41 Fendeu a rocha, e dela brotaram águas, que correram pelos lugares áridos como um rio.42 Porque se lembrou da sua santa palavra, e de Abraão, seu servo.43 Fez sair com alegria o seu povo, e com cânticos de júbilo os seus escolhidos.44 Deu-lhes as terras das nações, e eles herdaram o fruto do trabalho dos povos,45 para que guardassem os seus preceitos, e observassem as suas leis.
