1 O God, whom I praise, do not be silent.2 Wicked and deceitful people have opened their mouths against me. They speak against me with lying tongues.3 They surround me with hateful words. They fight against me without reason.4 In return for my love, they accuse me, but I pray for them.5 They reward me with evil instead of good and with hatred instead of love.6 Appoint the evil one to oppose him. Let an accuser stand at his right hand.7 When he stands trial, let him be found guilty. Let his prayer be considered sinful.8 Let his days be few in number. Let someone else take his place.9 Let his children become fatherless and his wife a widow.10 Let his children wander around and beg. Let them seek help far from their ruined homes.11 Let a creditor take everything he owns. Let strangers steal what he has worked for.12 Let no one be kind to him anymore. Let no one show any pity to his fatherless children.13 Let his descendants be cut off and their family name be wiped out by the next generation.14 Let Jehovah remember the guilt of his ancestors and not wipe out his mother's sin.15 Let their guilt and sin always remain on record in front of Jehovah. Let Jehovah remove every memory of him from the earth,16 for he did not remember to be kind. He drove oppressed, needy, and brokenhearted people to their graves.17 He loved to put curses on others, so he, too, was cursed. He did not like to bless others, so he never received a blessing.18 He wore cursing as though it were clothing; so cursing entered his body like water and his bones like oil.19 Let cursing be his clothing, a belt he always wears.20 This is how Jehovah rewards those who accuse me, those who say evil things against me.21 O Lord Jehovah, deal with me out of the goodness of your name. Rescue me because of your loving kindness.22 I am oppressed and needy. I feel pain in my heart.23 I fade away like a lengthening shadow. I have been shaken off like a grasshopper.24 My knees give way because I have been fasting. My body has become lean, without any fat.25 I have become the victim of my enemies' insults. They look at me and shake their heads.26 Help me, O Jehovah my God. Save me because of your loving kindness.27 Then they will know that this is your doing, that you, O Jehovah, are the one who saved me.28 They may curse, but you will bless. Let those who attack me be ashamed, but let your servant rejoice.29 Let those who accuse me wear disgrace as though it were clothing. Let them be wrapped in their shame as though it were a robe.30 With my mouth I will give many thanks to Jehovah. I will praise him among many people.31 He stands at the right hand of the needy people to save them from those who would condemn them to death.

1 Ó Deus do meu louvor, não te cales;2 pois a boca do ímpio e a boca fraudulenta se abrem contra mim; falam contra mim com uma língua mentirosa.3 Eles me cercam com palavras de ódio, e pelejam contra mim sem causa.4 Em paga do meu amor são meus adversários; mas eu me dedico à oração.5 Retribuem-me o mal pelo bem, e o ódio pelo amor.6 Põe sobre ele um ímpio, e esteja à sua direita um acusador.7 Quando ele for julgado, saia condenado; e em pecado se lhe torne a sua oração!8 Sejam poucos os seus dias, e outro tome o seu ofício!9 Fiquem órfãos os seus filhos, e viúva a sua mulher!10 Andem errantes os seus filhos, e mendiguem; esmolem longe das suas habitações assoladas.11 O credor lance mão de tudo quanto ele tenha, e despojem-no os estranhos do fruto do seu trabalho!12 Não haja ninguém que se compadeça dele, nem haja quem tenha pena dos seus órfãos!13 Seja extirpada a sua posteridade; o seu nome seja apagado na geração seguinte!14 Esteja na memória do Senhor a iniqüidade de seus pais; e não se apague o pecado de sua mãe!15 Antes estejam sempre perante o Senhor, para que ele faça desaparecer da terra a memória deles!16 Porquanto não se lembrou de usar de benignidade; antes perseguiu o varão aflito e o necessitado, como também o quebrantado de coração, para o matar.17 Visto que amou a maldição, que ela lhe sobrevenha! Como não desejou a bênção, que ela se afaste dele!18 Assim como se vestiu de maldição como dum vestido, assim penetre ela nas suas entranhas como água, e em seus ossos como azeite!19 Seja para ele como o vestido com que ele se cobre, e como o cinto com que sempre anda cingido!20 Seja este, da parte do Senhor, o galardão dos meus adversários, e dos que falam mal contra mim!21 Mas tu, ó Deus, meu Senhor age em meu favor por amor do teu nome; pois que é boa a tua benignidade, livra-me;22 pois sou pobre e necessitado, e dentro de mim está ferido o meu coração.23 Eis que me vou como a sombra que declina; sou arrebatado como o gafanhoto.24 Os meus joelhos estão enfraquecidos pelo jejum, e a minha carne perde a sua gordura.25 Eu sou para eles objeto de opróbrio; ao me verem, meneiam a cabeça.26 Ajuda-me, Senhor, Deus meu; salva-me segundo a tua benignidade.27 Saibam que nisto está a tua mão, e que tu, Senhor, o fizeste.28 Amaldiçoem eles, mas abençoa tu; fiquem confundidos os meus adversários; mas alegre-se o teu servo!29 Vistam-se de ignomínia os meus acusadores, e cubram-se da sua própria vergonha como dum manto!30 Muitas graças darei ao Senhor com a minha boca;31 Pois ele se coloca à direita do poder, para o salvar dos que o condenam.
