1 Amo ao Senhor, porque ele ouviu a minha voz e a minha súplica. 2 Porque inclinou para mim os seus ouvidos; portanto, invocá-lo-ei enquanto viver. 3 Cordéis da morte me cercaram, e angústias do inferno se apoderaram de mim; encontrei aperto e tristeza.

4 Então, invoquei o nome do Senhor, dizendo: Ó Senhor, livra a minha alma! 5 Piedoso é o Senhor e justo; o nosso Deus tem misericórdia. 6 O Senhor guarda aos símplices; estava abatido, mas ele me livrou. 7 Volta, minha alma, a teu repouso, pois o Senhor te fez bem. 8 Porque tu, Senhor, livraste a minha alma da morte, os meus olhos das lágrimas e os meus pés da queda. 9 Andarei perante a face do Senhor, na terra dos viventes.

10 Cri; por isso, falei: estive muito aflito. 11 Eu dizia na minha precipitação: todo homem é mentira. 12 Que darei eu ao Senhor por todos os benefícios que me tem feito? 13 Tomarei o cálice da salvação e invocarei o nome do Senhor. 14 Pagarei os meus votos ao Senhor, agora, na presença de todo o seu povo.

15 Preciosa é à vista do Senhor a morte dos seus santos. 16 Ó Senhor, deveras sou teu servo; sou teu servo, filho da tua serva; soltaste as minhas ataduras. 17 Oferecer-te-ei sacrifícios de louvor e invocarei o nome do Senhor. 18 Pagarei os meus votos ao Senhor; que eu possa fazê-lo na presença de todo o meu povo, 19 nos átrios da Casa do Senhor, no meio de ti, ó Jerusalém! Louvai ao Senhor!

1 It is lovely to me that the Lord heareth my voice, my supplications.

2 For he hath inclined his ear unto me: therefore throughout all my days will I call on him.

3 The bands of death had compassed me, and the pangs of the nether world had overtaken me; I had met with distress and sorrow:

4 I then called on the name of the Lord, I beseech thee, O Lord, release my soul.

5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; and our God is merciful.

6 The Lord preserveth the simple: I was in misery, and he helped me.

7 Return, O my soul, unto thy rest; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.

8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from falling.

9 I will walk before the Lord in the land of life.

10 I believe, therefore will I speak: I was greatly afflicted;

11 I indeed said in my despondency, Every man is a liar.

12 What shall I give in return unto the Lord for all his bounties toward me?

13 The cup of salvation will I lift up, and on the name of the Lord will I call.

14 My vows will I pay unto the Lord, yea, in the presence of all his people.

15 Grievous in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his pious ones.

16 O Lord, truly am I thy servant, I am thy servant,––the son of thy handmaid: thou hast loosened my fetters.

17 Unto thee will I offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and on the name of the Lord will I call.

18 My vows will I pay unto the Lord, yea, in the presence of all his people,

19 In the courts of the house of the Lord, in thy midst, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah.
