1 Em ti, Senhor, confio; nunca me deixes confundido; livra-me pela tua justiça. 2 Inclina para mim os teus ouvidos, livra-me depressa; sê a minha firme rocha, uma casa fortíssima que me salve. 3 Porque tu és a minha rocha e a minha fortaleza; pelo que, por amor do teu nome, guia-me e encaminha-me. 4 Tira-me da rede que para mim esconderam, pois tu és a minha força. 5 Nas tuas mãos encomendo o meu espírito; tu me remiste, Senhor, Deus da verdade. 6 Aborreço aqueles que se entregam a vaidades enganosas; eu, porém, confio no Senhor. 7 Eu me alegrarei e regozijarei na tua benignidade, pois consideraste a minha aflição; conheceste a minha alma nas angústias. 8 E não me entregaste nas mãos do inimigo; puseste os meus pés num lugar espaçoso. 9 Tem misericórdia de mim, ó Senhor, porque estou angustiado; consumidos estão de tristeza os meus olhos, a minha alma e o meu corpo. 10 Porque a minha vida está gasta de tristeza, e os meus anos, de suspiros; a minha força descai por causa da minha iniquidade, e os meus ossos se consomem.

11 Por causa de todos os meus inimigos, fui o opróbrio dos meus vizinhos e um horror para os meus conhecidos; os que me viam na rua fugiam de mim. 12 Estou esquecido no coração deles, como um morto; sou como um vaso quebrado. 13 Pois ouvi a murmuração de muitos; temor havia ao redor; porquanto todos se conluiavam contra mim; intentam tirar-me a vida.

14 Mas eu confiei em ti, Senhor; e disse: Tu és o meu Deus. 15 Os meus tempos estão nas tuas mãos; livra-me das mãos dos meus inimigos e dos que me perseguem. 16 Faze resplandecer o teu rosto sobre o teu servo; salva-me por tuas misericórdias. 17 Não me deixes confundido, Senhor, porque te tenho invocado; deixa confundidos os ímpios; emudeçam na sepultura. 18 Emudeçam os lábios mentirosos que dizem coisas más com arrogância e desprezo contra o justo.

19 Oh! Quão grande é a tua bondade, que guardaste para os que te temem, e que tu mostraste àqueles que em ti confiam na presença dos filhos dos homens! 20 Tu os esconderás, no secreto da tua presença, das intrigas dos homens; ocultá-los-ás, em um pavilhão, da contenda das línguas.

21 Bendito seja o Senhor, pois fez maravilhosa a sua misericórdia para comigo em cidade segura. 22 Pois eu dizia na minha pressa: Estou cortado de diante dos teus olhos; não obstante, tu ouviste a voz das minhas súplicas, quando eu a ti clamei.

23 Amai ao Senhor, vós todos os que sois seus santos; porque o Senhor guarda os fiéis e retribui com abundância aos soberbos. 24 Esforçai-vos, e ele fortalecerá o vosso coração, vós todos os que esperais no Senhor.

1 To the chief musician, a psalm of David.(31:2) In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; Oh that I may never be put to shame: through thy righteousness do thou release me.

2 (31:3) Bend unto me thy ear; speedily deliver me: be thou unto me as a rock of protection, as a mountain strong–hold to save me.

3 (31:4) For my rock and my stronghold art thou; and for the sake of thy name lead me, and guide me.

4 (31:5) Draw me out of the net which they have laid secretly for me; for thou art my protection.

5 (31:6) Into thy hand do I commit my spirit: thou redeemest me, O Lord, the God of truth.

6 (31:7) I hate those that depend on lying vanities; but I trust indeed in the Lord.

7 (31:8) I will be glad and rejoice in thy kindness; because thou hast seen my misery; thou hast taken cognizance of the distresses of my soul;

8 (31:9) And thou hast not surrendered me into the hand of the enemy: thou hast caused my feet to stand on an ample space.

9 (31:10) Be gracious unto me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is consumed through vexation––my soul too and my body.

10 (31:11) For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing, my strength faileth because of my iniquity, and my bones are consumed.

11 (31:12) Because of all my assailants am I become a reproach, and unto my neighbors greatly so, and a terror to my acquaintance, those that see me abroad flee away from me.

12 (31:13) I am forgotten as a dead man out of the heart: I am become like a perishable vessel.

13 (31:14) For I have heard the slandering of many; terror was on every side, while they took counsel together against me: to take away my life did they purpose.

14 (31:15) But I trusted well in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God.

15 (31:16) In thy hand are my destinies: deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from my persecutors.

16 (31:17) Let thy face shine upon thy servant: save me through thy kindness.

17 (31:18) O Lord, let me not be put to shame; for I have called on thee: let the wicked be put to shame, let them be silent, passing to the nether world.

18 (31:19) Let the lying lips be made dumb, which speak hard things against the righteous, with pride and contempt.

19 (31:20) Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast treasured up for those that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for those that trust in thee before the sons of men!

20 (31:21) Thou wilt conceal them in the secret of thy presence from the conspiracy of men: thou wilt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

21 (31:22) Blessed be the Lord: for he hath shown me his kindness wonderfully in a beleaguered city.

22 (31:23) And yet had I said in my despondency, I am cut off from before thy eyes: nevertheless thou didst hear the voice of my supplications when I cried loudly unto thee.

23 (31:24) Oh love the Lord, all ye his pious ones: the Lord preserveth the faithful, and recompenses the presumption of him that acteth proudly.

24 (31:25) Be strong, and let your heart be of good courage, all ye that hope in the Lord.
