1 Porque se revoltam os povos? Porque tentam inutilmente enganar?2 Os chefes das nações reúnem-se mais os seus ministros,para conspirarem contra o Senhor, e contra o Messias!3 Quebremos as suas correntes, dizem,deixemos de ser escravos de Deus!4 Mas Deus no céu simplesmente ri,e diverte-se com os seus mesquinhos planos.5 Então lhes falará com cólera,a sua severidade os espantará:6 Este é o rei da minha escolha,que foi coroado por mim em Jerusalém, a minha cidade santa8 Basta pedires, e eu te darei todas as nações do mundo.9 Tu as governarás com uma vara de ferroe as despedaçarás como louça de barro!'10 Sendo assim, que os governantes compreendam isto,e que todos os que dirigem os povos se deixem corrigir, enquanto é tempo.11 Sirvam o Senhor com temor reverente;alegrem-se, com tremor.12 Prestem homenagem ao seu filho,antes que a sua cólera se acenda e vocês morram. Porque eu vos aviso: a sua cólera não leva tempo a inflamar-se. No entanto, como são felizes todos os que confiam nele!
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.5 Then shall he speak to them in his wrath, and trouble them in his sore displeasure.6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said to me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.8 Ask of me, and I will give thee the heathen for thy inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
