1 Como é bom estar no teu templo, ó Senhor todo-poderoso!2 Eu anseio, tenho um profundo desejo de entrar nos átrios da tua habitação. Todo o meu ser reclama a presença do Deus vivo!3 Até mesmo os pardais e as andorinhas têm a felicidade de poder abrigar-se e fazerem o ninho, para si e para os filhotes, perto do teu altar, Senhor dos exércitos divinos, meu rei e meu Deus!4 Felizes são os que têm o privilégio de habitar na tua casa cantando a ti louvores.5 Felizes aqueles cuja força vem de ti, e que desejam, do coração, seguir nos teus caminhos.6 Quando atravessarem o vale de lágrimas, farão dele um lugar de fontes, um lugar de poços cheios das chuvas das tuas bênçãos!7 E assim irão, com forças constantemente renovadas, apresentar-se perante Deus, em Sião.9 Ó Deus, nosso defensor, tem compaixão daquele que tu escolheste, que elegeste como rei.10 Porque vale mais um dia passado no teu templo do que uma vida inteira noutro sítio qualquer, por muito bom que seja. Preferia ficar nem que fosse só à porta da morada do meu Deus, do que viver em palácios, onde haja maldade.11 Porque o Senhor Deus é como um Sol, ele é a nossa protecção. Dá-nos a sua bondade, e quer honrar-nos. Não negará bem algum aos que andam na rectidão.12 Senhor dos exércitos celestiais, abençoados são os que confiam em ti!
