2 Cantem com acompanhamento de instrumentos e com tambores, com a harpa suave e com a lira.3 Toquem a trombeta! Venham participar nas festas alegres da lua cheia e lua nova, e de todos os outros dias especiais!4 Porque tudo isso foi ordenado por Deus, foi mandado pelo Deus de Jacob,5 para lembrança, entre o seu povo, do tempo em que saíram do Egipto, em que foram escravos numa terra onde só ouviam falar uma língua estrangeira que não entendiam.7 Clamaste na tua angústia e eu te livrei. Respondi-te, lá no Monte Sinai, desde o lugar oculto dos trovões. Provei a tua fé em Meribá, quando te queixaste de falta de água.9 Eu tinha-te dito: Nunca adorarás outros deuses; não prestarás veneração a ídolos.10 Pois sou eu o teu Deus, que te tirei do Egipto. Experimenta abrir a tua boca e verás como te encherei das minhas bênçãos.11 Mas o meu povo não me quis ouvir. Israel rejeitou-me.12 Por isso os deixarei entregues a si mesmos e aos desejos dos seus corações.13 Ah! Se o meu povo me tivesse escutado, e se tivesse aceitado andar nos meus caminhos!14 Como eu teria rapidamente subjugado os seus inimigos! Como eu me teria oposto aos seus adversários!15 Os que desprezam o Senhor ter-se-lhe-iam sujeitado. Teriam sido vencidos para sempre.16 Eu teria sustentado Israel com o trigo mais fino, e o teria satisfeito com delicioso mel, que escorre da rocha.
