2 Levanta-te, pois és o juiz de toda a Terra, e castiga os soberbos.3 Até quando, Senhor, a gente má esfregará as mãos de contentamento.4 Até quando continuarão a dizer tudo o que querem com insolência, orgulhando-se de todo o mal que fazem?5 Vê como oprimem o teu povo e o reduzem a nada; como afligem os que te pertencem.6 Assassinam viúvas, imigrantes, órfãos.7 E dizem: O Senhor não há-de ver nada. Deus não repara nestas coisas!8 Dêem atenção, vocês que se parecem com brutos animais, e vocês que têm prazer na loucura: quando é que se interessarão em ter sabedoria?10 Aquele que é o único que pode e sabe castigar com justiça, não vos castigará a vocês também? Aquele que deu o entendimento ao homem, não entenderia ele o que vocês combinam e pensam?11 O Senhor bem conhece os pensamentos das pessoas, e sabe como são mesquinhos e inúteis.12 Bem felizes são os que repreendes, Senhor, aqueles a quem ensinas a tua lei.13 Porque a esses darás descanso nos dias maus, enquanto que o perverso, que te despreza, cairá na cova da destruição.14 O Senhor não abandonará, não desamparará a sua possessão.15 Os julgamentos serão de novo feitos com justiça, e todos os que conduzem os seus corações por caminhos rectos seguirão o Senhor.16 Quem será a meu favor contra os malfeitores? Quem se porá ao meu lado contra os que praticam a iniquidade?17 Se o Senhor não tivesse vindo em meu auxílio, já o meu corpo estaria na terra do silêncio.18 Quando eu te gritei: Senhor, os meus pés tropeçam, vou escorregar, logo acorreste, com a tua bondade, e me aguentaste.19 Quando se multiplicam dentro de mim as preocupações, os cuidados, consolas-me, e tornas a dar alegria e esperança à minha alma.20 Poderás tu dar protecção a um governo corrupto, que torce as leis a fim de poder pôr em execução planos injustos?21 Aprovarás tu aqueles que se apressam, nas suas assembleias corruptas, a condenar à morte o inocente?22 Mas tu és o meu mais seguro retiro; és a rocha em que me abrigo.23 Deus fará recair sobre eles as consequências inevitáveis da sua própria iniquidade. Serão destruídos pela sua própria malícia. O Senhor nosso Deus, ele mesmo os destruirá.

1 O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, show thyself.2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.3 LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?4 How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?5 They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thy heritage.6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.7 Yet they say, The LORD will not see, neither will the God of Jacob regard it.8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?10 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall he not correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall he not know?11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.14 For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.15 But judgment shall return to righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.16 Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?17 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.18 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me, thy comforts delight my soul.20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?21 They assemble themselves against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.22 But the LORD is my defense; and my God is the rock of my refuge.23 And he will bring upon them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness; yes, the LORD our God will cut them off.
