2 Não te afastes de mim nesta hora de aflição. Presta bem atenção ao clamor que te lanço neste dia de angústia, e responde-me depressa.3 Porque os dias da minha vida vão-se desfazendo como o fumo. Os ossos consomem-me dentro do meu corpo, como a lenha a arder.4 Tenho o coração ferido e pisado; estou como a relva que secou. Perdi o apetite; a comida para mim, só me dá é fastio.5 Sou só pele e osso, de tal maneira a minha vida tem sido um constante sofrimento.6 Sou como uma ave de rapina num lugar deserto; sou como o mocho, que se ouve na solidão.7 Não consigo dormir; sinto-me só como o pardal solitário num telhado.9 O pão sabe-me a cinza. A minha bebida são as lágrimas que verto.10 Isto, por causa da tua severidade, da tua zanga contra mim, pois rejeitaste-me e expulsaste-me da tua presença.12 tu, Senhor, permaneces o mesmo sempre. A tua fama atravessa a história, de uma ponta a outra.13 Eu sei que hás-de vir, cheio de compaixão para com Jerusalém; pois é a hora determinada em que terás pena dela e a ajudarás.14 Porque o teu povo ama as pedras das suas muralhas, cada grão do pó das suas ruas.15 E sendo assim, até todas as nações da Terra hão-de respeitar reverentemente o teu nome; todos os seus governantes se inclinarão diante da tua glória!16 Pois o Senhor reconstruirá Jerusalém, e há-de aparecer gloriosamente.17 Ouvirá as orações dos desamparados; não se esquecerá deles.18 Isto fica aqui escrito em intenção das futuras gerações; para que a mocidade futura possa crescer no hábito de louvar o Senhor!19 Porque Deus olhou desde a sua santa habitação, lá dos céus,20 e prestou atenção aos gemidos dos presos; e decidiu libertar os condenados à morte.21 Para que o nome do Senhor seja louvado no seu templo em Jerusalém,22 quando as multidões, das nacionalidades mais diversas, acorrerem para te louvar e adorar.23 O Senhor tirou-me as forças no meio da vida, encurtou-me os meus dias.24 Mas eu gritei-lhe: Meu Deus, não me leves no meio do caminho da vida, tu, que vives eternamente!25 Foste tu quem fundou a Terra. Fizeste o universo com as tuas mãos.26 Contudo isso um dia desaparecerá; mas tu ficas para sempre. Tudo acabará, como roupa velha. Tu os mudarás como vestuário que deixa de ser usado.27 Mas tu és sempre o mesmo; a tua vida não tem fim.28 E os nossos filhos viverão seguros e ficarão continuamente sob a tua protecção!

Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come to thee.3 \102:2\Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thy ear to me: in the day when I call, answer me speedily.4 \102:3\For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.5 \102:4\My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.6 \102:5\By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones cleave to my skin.7 \102:6\I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.8 \102:7\I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.9 \102:8\My enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are enraged against me are sworn against me.10 \102:9\For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,11 \102:10\Because of thy indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.12 \102:11\My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.13 \102:12\But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance to all generations.14 \102:13\Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favor her, yes, the set time, is come.15 \102:14\For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favor the dust thereof.16 \102:15\So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD: and all the kings of the earth thy glory.17 \102:16\When the LORD shall build up Zion, he will appear in his glory.18 \102:17\He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.19 \102:18\This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.20 \102:19\For he hath looked down from the hight of his sanctuary; from heaven hath the LORD beheld the earth;21 \102:20\To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;22 \102:21\To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;23 \102:22\When the people are assembled, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.24 \102:23\He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.25 \102:24\I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.26 \102:25\Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.27 \102:26\They shall perish, but thou wilt endure: yes, all of them shall grow old like a garment; as a vesture wilt thou change them, and they shall be changed:28 \102:27\But thou art the same, and thy years will have no end.29 \102:28\The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.
