2 Livra-me desta gente que pratica a iniquidade e o crime.4 Agitam-se e têm pressa de me liquidarem, ainda que sem razão nenhuma para tal.5 Olha para o que está a acontecer, Senhor, e desperta para me ajudares! Ao mesmo tempo tu, Senhor Deus, chefe dos exércitos celestiais, Deus de Israel, levanta-te para castigares as nações pecadoras que nos cercam. Não poupes nenhum desses homens maus e traiçoeiros.6 Ao anoitecer vêm espiar-me, andando em volta como cães, rondando a cidade.7 Ouço-lhes os insultos, que ferem como espadas; blasfemam contra Deus e pensam: Ninguém nos ouve.8 Mas tu, Senhor, ris-te deles, e também vês como são ridículas essas nações todas.10 Deus nunca mudará o seu amor por mim. Ele fará com que eu veja cumprido o meu desejo a respeito dos meus inimigos.11 Não os mates, pois o meu povo logo esquece esse tipo de lições. Mas antes que o teu poder os desbarate, os disperse, e os abata, Senhor, pois és a nossa protecção.12 São uns arrogantes. Deles só saem maldições e mentiras. E por essas mesmas coisas serão condenados.13 Destrói-os com a tua severidade, liquida-os de forma que todo o mundo saiba que Deus governa em Israel e que domina toda a Terra.16 Desde manhã cedo cantarei com alegria o teu amor. Pois tens sido o meu refúgio bem seguro, a minha segurança nos momentos de angústia.17 A ti, pois, minha força, cantarei louvores. Tu és quem me defende e me ama.
