Ellei Herra olisi meidän kanssamme

— näin sanokoon Israel —

2 *Room. 8:31ellei Herra olisi meidän kanssamme,

kun ihmiset nousevat meitä vastaan,

3 *Ps. 94:17niin he meidät elävältä nielisivät,

kun heidän vihansa syttyy meitä vastaan;

4 niin vedet upottaisivat meidät,

virta tulvisi meidän sielumme ylitse;

5 *Ps. 69:16niin tulvisivat kuohuvat vedet

meidän sielumme ylitse.

6 Kiitetty olkoon Herra,

joka ei antanut meitä

heidän hammastensa raadeltaviksi.

7 Meidän sielumme pääsi kuin lintu

pyydystäjäin paulasta:

paula katkesi, ja me pääsimme pois.
