1 Daavidin psalmi. Daavid lauloi sen lähdettyään Abimelekin luota. Abimelek oli lähettänyt Daavidin pois, kun tämä oli tekeytynyt mielipuoleksi. (H34:2)Minä tahdon aina ylistää Herraa, lakkaamatta laulaa hänelle kiitosta!2 (H34:3)Herran hyvyyden tähden minä ylistän itseäni onnelliseksi. Maan hiljaiset kuulevat sen ja iloitsevat.3 (H34:4)Tulkaa, kiittäkää minun kanssani Herraa, kunnioittakaamme yhdessä hänen nimeään!4 (H34:5)Minä käännyin Herran puoleen, ja hän vastasi minulle. Hän vapautti minut kaikesta pelosta.5 (H34:6)Ne, jotka katsovat häneen, säteilevät iloa, heidän kasvonsa eivät punastu häpeästä.6 (H34:7)Minä olin avuton ja huusin apua. Herra kuuli minua ja pelasti minut kaikesta hädästä.7 (H34:8)Herran enkeli on asettunut vartioon. Hän suojaa niitä, jotka palvelevat Herraa, ja pelastaa heidät.8 (H34:9)Katsokaa, nähkää omin silmin! Maistakaa, katsokaa Herran hyvyyttä! Onnellinen se, joka turvaa häneen.9 (H34:10)Pelätkää Herraa, te hänen pyhänsä! Minä opetan teille, mitä on Herran pelko.12 (H34:13)Jos odotat elämältä hyvää ja toivot pitkää ikää,13 (H34:14)niin varo kieltäsi, älä päästä huulillesi petoksen sanaa.14 (H34:15)Karta pahaa ja tee hyvää, pyri sopuun, rakenna rauhaa!15 (H34:16)Herran silmät katsovat vanhurskaita, hänen korvansa kuulevat heidän avunhuutonsa.16 (H34:17)Herra kääntyy pahantekijöitä vastaan, heidän muistonsakin hän hävittää maan päältä.17 (H34:18)Kun vanhurskaat huutavat apua, Herra kuulee ja pelastaa heidät kaikesta hädästä.18 (H34:19)Herra on lähellä niitä, joilla on särkynyt sydän, hän pelastaa ne, joilla on murtunut mieli.19 (H34:20)Monet vaivat kohtaavat vanhurskasta, mutta kaikista niistä Herra hänet vapauttaa.20 (H34:21)Herra varjelee häntä, ei yksikään hänen luunsa murru.21 (H34:22)Jumalattoman tuhoaa hänen oma pahuutensa, tuomion saavat vanhurskaan vihamiehet.22 (H34:23)Niitä, jotka turvaavat Herraan, ei kohtaa tuomio. Hän lunastaa heidät vapaiksi.

When he made a change in his behaviour before Abimelech, who sent him away, and he went. 2 \34:1\I will be blessing the Lord at all times; his praise will be ever in my mouth.3 \34:2\My soul will say great things of the Lord: the poor in spirit will have knowledge of it and be glad.4 \34:3\O give praise to the Lord with me; let us be witnesses together of his great name.5 \34:4\I was searching for the Lord, and he gave ear to my voice, and made me free from all my fears.6 \34:5\Let your eyes be turned to him and you will have light, and your faces will not be shamed.7 \34:6\This poor man's cry came before the Lord, and he gave him salvation from all his troubles.8 \34:7\The angel of the Lord is ever watching over those who have fear of him, to keep them safe.9 \34:8\By experience you will see that the Lord is good; happy is the man who has faith in him.10 \34:9\Keep yourselves in the fear of the Lord, all you his saints; for those who do so will have no need of anything.11 \34:10\The young lions are in need and have no food; but those who are looking to the Lord will have every good thing.12 \34:11\Come, children, give attention to me; I will be your teacher in the fear of the Lord.13 \34:12\What man has a love of life, and a desire that his days may be increased so that he may see good?14 \34:13\Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from words of deceit.15 \34:14\Be turned from evil, and do good; make a search for peace, desiring it with all your heart.16 \34:15\The eyes of the Lord are on the upright, and his ears are open to their cry.17 \34:16\The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to take away the memory of them from the earth.18 \34:17\The cry of the upright comes before the Lord, and he takes them out of all their troubles.19 \34:18\The Lord is near the broken-hearted; he is the saviour of those whose spirits are crushed down.20 \34:19\Great are the troubles of the upright: but the Lord takes him safely out of them all.21 \34:20\He keeps all his bones: not one of them is broken.22 \34:21\Evil will put an end to the sinner, and those who are haters of righteousness will come to destruction.23 \34:22\The Lord will be the saviour of the souls of his servants, and no one who has faith in him will be put to shame.
