A bem-aventurança de quem recebe o perdão
De Davi. Salmo didático

1 Bem-aventurado aquele cuja iniquidade é perdoada,

cujo pecado é coberto.

2 Bem-aventurado o homem a quem o Senhor não atribui iniquidade

e em cujo espírito não há dolo.

3 Enquanto calei os meus pecados, envelheceram os meus ossos

pelos meus constantes gemidos todo o dia.

4 Porque a tua mão pesava dia e noite sobre mim,

e o meu vigor se tornou em sequidão de estio.

5 Confessei-te o meu pecado

e a minha iniquidade não mais ocultei.

Disse: confessarei ao Senhor as minhas transgressões;

e tu perdoaste a iniquidade do meu pecado.

6 Sendo assim, todo homem piedoso te fará súplicas

em tempo de poder encontrar-te.

Com efeito, quando transbordarem muitas águas,

não o atingirão.

7 Tu és o meu esconderijo;

tu me preservas da tribulação

e me cercas de alegres cantos de livramento.

8 Instruir-te-ei e te ensinarei o caminho que deves seguir;

e, sob as minhas vistas, te darei conselho.

9 Não sejais como o cavalo ou a mula, sem entendimento,

os quais com freios e cabrestos são dominados;

de outra sorte não te obedecem.

10 Muito sofrimento terá de curtir o ímpio,

mas o que confia no Senhor, a misericórdia o assistirá.

11 Alegrai-vos no Senhor e regozijai-vos, ó justos;

exultai, vós todos que sois retos de coração.

A Psalm of David. Maschil.

1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,

Whose sin is covered.

2 Blessed is the man unto whom Jehovah imputeth not iniquity,

And in whose spirit there is no guile.

3 When I kept silence, my bones wasted away

Through my groaning all the day long.

4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me:

My moisture was changed as with the drought of summer. [Selah

5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee,

And mine iniquity did I not hide:

I said, I will confess my transgressions unto Jehovah;

And thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. [Selah

6 For this let every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found:

Surely when the great waters overflow they shall not reach unto him.

7 Thou art my hiding-place; thou wilt preserve me from trouble;

Thou wilt compass me about with songs of deliverance. [Selah

8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:

I will counsel thee with mine eye upon thee.

9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding;

Whose trappings must be bit and bridle to hold them in,

Else they will not come near unto thee.

10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;

But he that trusteth in Jehovah, lovingkindness shall compass him about.

11 Be glad in Jehovah, and rejoice, ye righteous;

And shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

1 Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.

2 Blessed is the one whose sin the LORD does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.

3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.

4 For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. [^1]

5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD." And you forgave the guilt of my sin.

6 Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them.

7 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

9 Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.

10 Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD's unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.

11 Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!
