1 Fundada por ele sobre os montes santos,

2 o Senhor ama as portas de Sião

mais do que as habitações todas de Jacó.

3 Gloriosas coisas se têm dito de ti,

ó cidade de Deus!

4 Dentre os que me conhecem, farei menção de Raabe e da Babilônia;

eis aí Filístia e Tiro com Etiópia;

lá, nasceram.

5 E com respeito a Sião se dirá:

Este e aquele nasceram nela;

e o próprio Altíssimo a estabelecerá.

6 O Senhor, ao registrar os povos, dirá:

Este nasceu lá.

7 Todos os cantores, saltando de júbilo, entoarão:

Todas as minhas fontes são em ti.

2 Jehovah loveth the gates of Zion

More than all the dwellings of Jacob.

3 Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. [Selah

4 I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon as among them that know me:

Behold, Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia:

This one was born there.

5 Yea, of Zion it shall be said, This one and that one was born in her;

And the Most High himself will establish her.

6 Jehovah will count, when he writeth up the peoples,

This one was born there. [Selah

7 They that sing as well as they that dance shall say,

All my fountains are in thee.

1 He has founded his city on the holy mountain.

2 The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob.

3 Glorious things are said of you, city of God: [^1]

4 "I will record Rahab "and Babylon among those who acknowledge me — Philistia too, and Tyre, along with Cush "— and will say, 'This one was born in Zion.'" [^4]

5 Indeed, of Zion it will be said, "This one and that one were born in her, and the Most High himself will establish her."

6 The LORD will write in the register of the peoples: "This one was born in Zion."

7 As they make music they will sing, "All my fountains are in you."
