A calúnia dos inimigos e o socorro de Deus
Ao mestre de canto. Salmo de Davi

1 Bem-aventurado o que acode ao necessitado;

o Senhor o livra no dia do mal.

2 O Senhor o protege, preserva-lhe a vida

e o faz feliz na terra;

não o entrega à discrição dos seus inimigos.

3 O Senhor o assiste no leito da enfermidade;

na doença, tu lhe afofas a cama.

4 Disse eu: compadece-te de mim, Senhor;

sara a minha alma, porque pequei contra ti.

5 Os meus inimigos falam mal de mim:

Quando morrerá e lhe perecerá o nome?

6 Se algum deles me vem visitar, diz coisas vãs,

amontoando no coração malícias;

em saindo, é disso que fala.

7 De mim rosnam à uma todos os que me odeiam;

12 Quanto a mim, tu me susténs na minha integridade

e me pões à tua presença para sempre.

13 Bendito seja o Senhor, Deus de Israel,

da eternidade para a eternidade!

Amém e amém!

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor:

Jehovah will deliver him in the day of evil.

2 Jehovah will preserve him, and keep him alive,

And he shall be blessed upon the earth;

And deliver not thou him unto the will of his enemies.

3 Jehovah will support him upon the couch of languishing:

Thou makest all his bed in his sickness.

4 I said, O Jehovah, have mercy upon me:

Heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

5 Mine enemies speak evil against me, saying,

When will he die, and his name perish?

6 And if he come to see me, he speaketh falsehood;

His heart gathereth iniquity to itself:

When he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

7 All that hate me whisper together against me;

Against me do they devise my hurt.

8 An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him;

And now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted,

Who did eat of my bread,

Hath lifted up his heel against me.

10 But thou, O Jehovah, have mercy upon me, and raise me up,

That I may requite them.

11 By this I know that thou delightest in me,

Because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity,

And settest me before thy face for ever.

13 Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel,

From everlasting and to everlasting.

Amen, and Amen.

1 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the LORD delivers them in times of trouble.

2 The LORD protects and preserves them — they are counted among the blessed in the land — he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.

3 The LORD sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.

4 I said, "Have mercy on me, LORD; heal me, for I have sinned against you."

5 My enemies say of me in malice, "When will he die and his name perish?"

6 When one of them comes to see me, he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander; then he goes out and spreads it around.

7 All my enemies whisper together against me; they imagine the worst for me, saying,

8 "A vile disease has afflicted him; he will never get up from the place where he lies."

9 Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned "against me.

10 But may you have mercy on me, LORD; raise me up, that I may repay them.

11 I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.

12 Because of my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever.

13 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
