1 Aquele que habita

no esconderijo do Altíssimo

e descansa à sombra do Onipotente

2 diz ao Senhor:

"Tu és o meu refúgio

e a minha fortaleza,

o meu Deus, em quem confio."

3 Pois ele livrará você

do laço do passarinheiro

e da peste perniciosa.

4 Ele o cobrirá com as suas penas,

e, sob as suas asas,

você estará seguro;

a sua verdade é proteção e escudo.

5 Você não terá medo

do terror noturno,

nem da flecha que voa de dia,

6 nem da peste

que se propaga nas trevas,

nem da mortandade

que assola ao meio-dia.

7 Caiam mil ao seu lado,

e dez mil, à sua direita;

você não será atingido.

8 Somente com os seus olhos

você contemplará

e verá o castigo dos ímpios.

9 Você disse:

"O Senhor é o meu refúgio."

Você fez do Altíssimo a sua morada.

10 Nenhum mal lhe sucederá,

praga nenhuma chegará

à sua tenda.

11 Porque aos seus anjos

ele dará ordens a seu respeito,

para que guardem você

em todos os seus caminhos.

12 Eles o sustentarão

nas suas mãos,

para que você não tropece

em alguma pedra.

13 Você pisará o leão e a cobra;

com os pés esmagará o leãozinho

e a serpente.

14 Deus diz: "Porque a mim

se apegou com amor,

eu o livrarei;

eu o protegerei,

porque conhece o meu nome.

15 Ele me invocará,

e eu lhe responderei;

na sua angústia eu estarei com ele;

eu o livrarei e o glorificarei.

16 Vou saciá-lo com longevidade

e lhe mostrarei a minha salvação."

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High, Under the shadow of the Almighty, will tarry,2 Saying of YahwehMy refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I will trust.3 For, he, will rescue thee, From the snare of the fowler, From the destructive pestilence.4 With his pinion, will he cover thee, And, under his wings, shalt thou seek refuge, A shield and buckler, is his faithfulness.5 Thou shalt not be afraid, Of the dread of the night, Of the arrow that flieth by day;6 Of the pestilence that, in darkness, doth walk, Of the plague that layeth waste at noonday.7 There shall fall, at thy side, a thousand, Yea, myriads, at thy right hand, Unto thee, shall it not come nigh;8 Save only, with thine own eyes, shalt thou discern, And, the recompense of the lawless, shalt thou see.9 Because, thou, Yahweh, my refuge,The Most High, thou last made thy dwelling-place,10 There shall not be sent unto thee misfortune, Nor shall, plague, come near into thy tent;11 For, his messengers, will he charge concealing thee, To keep thee, in all thy ways;12 On hands, will they bear thee up, Lest thou strike, against a stone, thy foot;13 On the lion and adder, shalt thou tread, Shalt trample on young lion and crocodile.14 Because, on me, he hath set firm his love, Therefore will I deliver him, I will set him on high, Because he hath known my Name;15 He shall call me, and I will answer him, With him, will, I, be, in distress, I will rescue him, and will honour him;16 With length of days, will I satisfy him, And will show him my salvation.
