1 Ó Senhor, tu és Deus que castiga!
Mostra a tua ira.
2 Tu és o juiz de todas as pessoas;
levanta-te e dá aos orgulhosos
o que eles merecem.
3 Até quando os maus
continuarão alegres?
Até quando, ó Senhor Deus?
4 Até quando se mostrarão orgulhosos
e se gabarão dos seus crimes?
5 Ó Senhor, eles esmagam o teu povo
e exploram os que são teus.
6 Eles matam as viúvas e os órfãos
e assassinam os estrangeiros
que vivem na nossa terra.
7 E dizem: "O Senhor não está vendo;
o Deus de Israel
não vai ficar sabendo disso."
8 Procure entender, ó gente tola!
Quando é que vocês vão criar juízo?
9 Foi o Senhor Deus
quem fez os nossos ouvidos —
será que ele não pode ouvir?
Foi o Senhor quem fez os nossos olhos —
será que ele não pode ver?
10 O Senhor repreende as nações —
será que ele não vai castigá-las?
O Senhor ensina todos os seres humanos —
será que ele não tem sabedoria?
11 O Senhor conhece os pensamentos
das pessoas
e sabe que eles não valem nada.
12 Ó Senhor Deus, felizes são
aqueles que tu ensinas,
aqueles a quem ensinas a tua lei!
13 Tu farás com que fiquem tranquilos
nos dias de aflição,
mas para os maus serão abertas
sepulturas.
14 Pois o Senhor não abandonará
o seu povo;
ele não deixará desamparados
aqueles que são dele.
15 Assim haverá justiça nos tribunais,
e todos os que são honestos
estarão a favor dela.
16 Quem se levantou a meu favor
contra os maus?
Quem ficou do meu lado
contra os que fazem o mal?
17 Se o Senhor não tivesse me ajudado,
eu já teria ido
para a terra do silêncio.
18 Ó Senhor Deus, quando senti
que poderia morrer,
o teu amor me amparou.
19 Quando estou aflito e preocupado,
tu me consolas e me alegras.
20 Tu não queres nada
com juízes desonestos,
pois eles fazem a injustiça
parecer justiça,
21 ajuntam-se para prejudicar
as pessoas honestas
e condenam à morte os inocentes.
22 Mas o Senhor me defende;
ele é a minha rocha e o meu abrigo.
23 Ele castigará esses juízes
por causa das injustiças
que eles têm cometido;
o Senhor, nosso Deus, os destruirá
por causa dos seus atos de maldade.
1 O GOD of avengingYahweh, GOD of avenging, shine forth:
2 Lift up thyself, O judge of the earth, Render a recompense unto the proud.
3 How long shall the lawless, O Yahweh, How long shall the lawless exult?
4 They pour forth , they speak arrogantly, All the workers of iniquity, do boast:
5 Thy people, O Yahweh, they will crush, And, thine inheritance, tread down;
6 The widow and sojourner, they will slay, And, the fatherless, murder.
7 Yet have they saidYah, doth not see, The God of Jacob, doth not understand.
8 Understand, ye brutish among the people, And, ye dullards, when will ye show discretion?
9 He that planteth the ear, shall he not hear? Or, that fashioneth the eye, shall he not have power to see?
10 He that correcteth nations, shall he not reprove? He that teacheth man knowledge!
11 Yahweh, knoweth the plans of men, That, they, are a breath!
12 How happy the man whom thou correctest, O Yah! And whom, out of thy law, thou instructest!
13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of misfortune, Until there be diggedfor the lawless onea pit.
14 For Yahweh, will not abandon, his people, And, his inheritance, will he not forsake;
15 For, unto righteousness, shall the judicial sentence return, Then shall follow itall the upright in heart.
16 Who will rise up for me, against the evil-doers? Who will make a stand for me, against the workers of iniquity?
17 If, Yahweh, had not been a help to me, Soon had sunk into silencemy soul!
18 If I say, My foot, hath slipped, Thy lovingkindness, O Yahweh, supporteth me.
19 In the multitude of my cares within me, Thy consolations, delight my soul.
20 Shall the throne that inflicteth ruin, have fellowship with thee, That frameth oppression, by statute?
21 They make an attack on the life of the righteous one,And, innocent blood, they condemn.
22 But, Yahweh, hath become for me a high tower, And my God, my rock of refuge.
23 Thus hath he brought back on them their iniquity, And, by their own wickedness, will he destroy them, Destroy them, will Yahweh our God.
