1 When Israel went out of Egypt,
the house of Jacob from a people of foreign language,
2 Judah became his sanctuary,
Israel his dominion.
3 The sea saw it, and fled.
The Jordan was driven back.
4 The mountains skipped like rams,
the little hills like lambs.
5 What was it, you sea, that you fled?
You Jordan, that you turned back?
6 You mountains, that you skipped like rams?
You little hills, like lambs?
7 Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
8 who turned the rock into a pool of water,
the flint into a spring of waters.

1 I te putanga mai o Īharaira i Īhipa,
o te whare o Hākopa i te iwi reo kē,
2 ko Hūrā tōna wāhi tapu,
ko Īharaira tōna rangatiratanga.
3 I kite te moana, ā, whati ana;
i whakahokia ki muri a Horano.
4 Pekepeke ana ngā maunga ānō he hipi toa,
ngā pukepuke ānō he reme.
5 I ahatia koe, e te moana, i whati ai koe e Horano,
i whakahokia ai koe ki muri?
6 E ngā maunga, i pekepeke ai koutou ānō he hipi toa,
e ngā pukepuke, ānō he reme?
7 E wiri, e te whenua, i te aroaro o te Ariki,
i te aroaro o te Atua o Hākopa,
