Salmos 39

For the Chief Musician. For Jeduthun. A Psalm by David.

1 I said, "I will watch my ways, so that I don’t sin with my tongue.

I will keep my mouth with a bridle while the wicked is before me."

2 I was mute with silence.

I held my peace, even from good.

My sorrow was stirred.

3 My heart was hot within me.

While I meditated, the fire burned.

I spoke with my tongue:

4 "Yahweh, show me my end,

what is the measure of my days.

Let me know how frail I am.

5 Behold, you have made my days hand widths.

My lifetime is as nothing before you.

Surely every man stands as a breath." Selah.

6 "Surely every man walks like a shadow.

Surely they busy themselves in vain.

He heaps up, and doesn’t know who shall gather.

7 Now, Lord, what do I wait for?

My hope is in you.

8 Deliver me from all my transgressions.

Don’t make me the reproach of the foolish.

9 I was mute.

I didn’t open my mouth,

because you did it.

10 Remove your scourge away from me.

I am overcome by the blow of your hand.

11 When you rebuke and correct man for iniquity,

you consume his wealth like a moth.

Surely every man is but a breath." Selah.

12 "Hear my prayer, Yahweh, and give ear to my cry.

Don’t be silent at my tears.

For I am a stranger with you,

a foreigner, as all my fathers were.

13 Oh spare me, that I may recover strength,

before I go away and exist no more."

Te Whākina a te Tangata e Mamae ana

ka tiakina tōku māngai, paraire rawa,

2 I whakamoroki ahau, i wahangū,

kīhai i puaki tāku kupu, ahakoa pai;

ā, ka oho tōku mamae.

3 Werawera ana tōku ngākau i roto i ahau;

i ahau e whakaaro ana ka kā te ahi,

ā, ka kōrero tōku arero:

4 "E Ihowā, meinga ahau kia mātau ki tōku mutunga,

ki te maha hoki o ōku rā, e hia rānei;

kia mātau ai ahau he mea memeha noa ahau.

5 Nanā, he whānuitanga ringa ōku rā kua hōmai nei e koe;

he kāhore noa iho anō ōku tau i tōu aroaro.

Ahakoa ū noa te tū o ngā tāngata katoa,

he mea memeha kau. Hera

6 He pono kei roto i te ātārangi te tangata e kōpikopiko noa ana;

he pono e ohorere noa ana rātou;

e āmi ana ia i te taonga, ā, kāhore e mātau mā wai rānei e kohi.

7 "Nā, he aha tāku e tatari atu nei, e te Ariki?

Ko koe tāku e tūmanako ai.

8 Whakaorangia ahau i āku mahi tutū katoa;

kaua ahau e waiho hei tāwainga mā te wairangi.

9 Wahangū ana ahau; kīhai i kuihi tōku māngai;

he meatanga hoki tēnei nāu.

10 Nekehia atu i ahau tāu whiu;

ka ngaro ahau i te pakinga a tōu ringa.

11 "Ka pākia e koe te tangata,

ka whakatūpehupehutia mō te hara,

ka meinga e koe tōna ātaahua kia memeha,

kia pērā me te pūrehurehu.

12 "Whakarongo ki tāku īnoi e Ihowā,

kia tītaha mai tōu taringa ki tāku karanga;

kei wahangū koe ki ōku roimata.

He heke hoki ahau nāu, he manene,

he pērā me ōku mātua katoa.

13 Kia āta hanga ki ahau, kia tā ai tōku manawa,

keiwhā haere atu ahau, i konei, ā, ka kāhore noa iho."
