A contemplation by David, when he was in the cave. A Prayer.
1 I cry with my voice to Yahweh.
With my voice, I ask Yahweh for mercy.
2 I pour out my complaint before him.
I tell him my troubles.
3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me,
you knew my route.
On the path in which I walk,
they have hidden a snare for me.
4 Look on my right, and see;
for there is no one who is concerned for me.
Refuge has fled from me.
No one cares for my soul.
5 I cried to you, Yahweh.
I said, "You are my refuge,
my portion in the land of the living."
6 Listen to my cry,
for I am in desperate need.
Deliver me from my persecutors,
for they are too strong for me.
7 Bring my soul out of prison,
that I may give thanks to your name.
The righteous will surround me,
for you will be good to me.

He Īnoi mō te Whakaoranga mai i ngā Kaiwhakawhiu
He Makiri nā Rāwiri; he īnoi i a ia i roto i te ana.
1 He karanga tā tōku reo ki a Ihowā;
he īnoi tā tōku reo ki a Ihowā.
2 Horahia ana tāku īnoi ki tōna aroaro;
whakaaturia ana e ahau tōku mate ki tōna aroaro.
3 I te ngaromanga o tōku wairua i roto i ahau
i mātau koe ki tōku ara.
Kua whakatakotoria pukutia e rātou
te māhanga mōku i te ara i haere ai ahau.
4 Titiro ki tōku taha matau, kia kite –
kāhore hoki tētahi tangata e mōhio ana ki ahau;
kāhore he piringa mōku;
kāhore tētahi e mahara ana ki tōku wairua.
5 I karanga ahau ki a koe, e Ihowā;
i mea, "Ko koe tōku piringa,
tōku wāhi i te whenua o te hunga ora."
6 Tahuri mai ki tāku karanga,
kua whakaititia rawatia hoki ahau.
Whakaorangia ahau i ōku kaitūkino,
he kaha rawa hoki rātou i ahau.
7 Whakaputaina tōku wairua i te herehere,
kia whakamoemiti ai ahau ki tōu ingoa.
Ka karapotia ahau e te hunga tika;
nōu ka atawhai nei i ahau.
