Salmos 107

1 Give thanks to Yahweh,*107:1 "Yahweh" is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered "LORD" (all caps) in other translations. for he is good,

for his loving kindness endures forever.

2 Let the redeemed by Yahweh say so,

whom he has redeemed from the hand of the adversary,

3 and gathered out of the lands,

from the east and from the west,

from the north and from the south.

4 They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way.

They found no city to live in.

5 Hungry and thirsty,

their soul fainted in them.

6 Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble,

and he delivered them out of their distresses.

7 He led them also by a straight way,

that they might go to a city to live in.

8 Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness,

for his wonderful deeds to the children of men!

9 For he satisfies the longing soul.

He fills the hungry soul with good.

10 Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,

being bound in affliction and iron,

11 because they rebelled against the words of God,*107:11 The Hebrew word rendered "God" is "אֱלֹהִ֑ים" (Elohim).

and condemned the counsel of the Most High.

12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labor.

They fell down, and there was no one to help.

13 Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble,

and he saved them out of their distresses.

14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,

and broke away their chains.

15 Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness,

for his wonderful deeds to the children of men!

16 For he has broken the gates of bronze,

and cut through bars of iron.

17 Fools are afflicted because of their disobedience,

and because of their iniquities.

18 Their soul abhors all kinds of food.

They draw near to the gates of death.

19 Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble,

and he saves them out of their distresses.

20 He sends his word, and heals them,

and delivers them from their graves.

21 Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness,

for his wonderful deeds to the children of men!

22 Let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving,

and declare his deeds with singing.

23 Those who go down to the sea in ships,

who do business in great waters,

24 these see Yahweh’s deeds,

and his wonders in the deep.

25 For he commands, and raises the stormy wind,

which lifts up its waves.

26 They mount up to the sky; they go down again to the depths.

Their soul melts away because of trouble.

27 They reel back and forth, and stagger like a drunken man,

and are at their wits’ end.

28 Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble,

and he brings them out of their distress.

29 He makes the storm a calm,

so that its waves are still.

30 Then they are glad because it is calm,

so he brings them to their desired haven.

31 Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness,

for his wonderful deeds for the children of men!

32 Let them exalt him also in the assembly of the people,

and praise him in the seat of the elders.

33 He turns rivers into a desert,

water springs into a thirsty ground,

34 and a fruitful land into a salt waste,

for the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

35 He turns a desert into a pool of water,

and a dry land into water springs.

36 There he makes the hungry live,

that they may prepare a city to live in,

37 sow fields, plant vineyards,

and reap the fruits of increase.

38 He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly.

He doesn’t allow their livestock to decrease.

39 Again, they are diminished and bowed down

through oppression, trouble, and sorrow.

40 He pours contempt on princes,

and causes them to wander in a trackless waste.

41 Yet he lifts the needy out of their affliction,

and increases their families like a flock.

42 The upright will see it, and be glad.

All the wicked will shut their mouths.

43 Whoever is wise will pay attention to these things.

They will consider the loving kindnesses of Yahweh.

1 Whakawhetai ki a Ihowā, he pai hoki ia;

he pūmau tonu hoki tāna mahi tohu.

2 Kia pēnā anō te kōrero a te hunga i hokona e Ihowā,

3 i kohikohia nei i ngā whenua,

i te rāwhiti, i te uru,

i te raki, i te tonga.

4 I hāereere rātou i te koraha i te wāhi mokemoke,

tē kitea tētahi pā hei nohoanga.

5 I matekai rātou, i matewai;

hemo noa tō rātou wairua i roto i a rātou.

6 Nā, ka tangi rātou ki a Ihowā i tō rātou pōuri;

ā, whakaorangia ana rātou e ia i ō rātou mate;

7 ā, ārahina ana e ia rā te ara tika;

kia haere ai ki te pā hei nohoanga.

8 Auē! Me i whakapaingia e te tangata a Ihowā mō tōna atawhai,

mō āna mahi whakamīharo ki ngā tama a te tangata!

9 E whakamākonatia ana hoki e ia te wairua hiahia;

ko te wairua hiakai, whakakīia ana e ia ki te pai.

10 Ko te hunga i noho i te pōuri, i te ātārangi o te mate,

he mea here ki te mamae, ki te rino;

11 mō rātou i tutū ki ngā kupu a te Atua,

i whakahāwea ki te whakaaro o te Runga Rawa.

12 Koia i pēhia iho ai e ia ō rātou ngākau ki te mahi;

hinga iho rātou, kāhore hoki he kaiāwhina.

13 Nā, ka tangi rātou ki a Ihowā i tō rātou pōuri;

ā, ka whakaorangia rātou e ia i ō rātou mate.

14 Whakaputaina mai ana rātou e ia i te pōuri,

i te ātārangi o te mate; motumotuhia ana ō rātou here.

15 Auē! Me i whakapaingia e te tangata a Ihowā mō tōna atawhai,

mō āna mahi whakamīharo ki ngā tama a te tangata!

16 Kua tukitukia hoki e ia ngā tatau parāhi;

kua tapahia e ia ngā tūtaki rino, motu rawa.

17 Ko ngā kūware, nā ā rātou mahi tutū,

nā ō rātou kino, i pākia ai rātou.

18 Ka wetiweti tō rātou wairua ki ngā kai katoa,

ā, ka whakatata rātou ki ngā kūwaha o te mate.

19 Nā, ka tangi ki a Ihowā i tō rātou pōuri,

ā, ka whakaorangia rātou e ia i ō rātou mate.

20 Tukua mai ana e ia tāna kupu, ā, rongoātia ana rātou;

ā, whakaputaina ana rātou i ō rātou ngaromanga.

21 Auē! Me i whakapaingia e te tangata a Ihowā mō tōna atawhai,

mō āna mahi whakamīharo ki ngā tama a te tangata.

22 Kia tukua anō e rātou te whakahere, arā te whakamoemiti;

kia whakapuaki i āna mahi i runga i te hari.

23 Ko te hunga e haere ana ki raro, ki te moana, i runga kaipuke,

ā, e whai mahi ana i ngā wai nunui,

24 ko rātou e kite i ngā mahi a Ihowā,

i āna mahi whakamīharo i te rire.

25 Puta kau tāna kupu, kua maranga te tūpuhi,

māna e whakatūtū ōna ngaru.

26 Ka kake rātou ki runga ki te rangi, ka heke anō ki raro ki te rire;

ngohe noa ō rātou wairua i te pāwera;

27 ka tiu rātou, ka hūrorirori ānō he tangata e haurangi ana;

ā, kāhore he mahara i toe.

28 Heoi, ka tangi ki a Ihowā i tō rātou hēmanawa;

ā, whakaorangia ana rātou i ō rātou mate.

29 Meinga ana e ia te tūpuhi kia marino,

ōna ngaru kia māriri.

30 Nā, ka koa rātou, nō te mea ka mārie,

ā, ka kawea rātou e ia ki te tauranga i hiahia ai rātou.

31 Auē! Me i whakapaingia e te tangata a Ihowā mō tōna atawhai,

mō āna mahi whakamīharo ki ngā tama a te tangata!

32 Kia whakanui hoki rātou i a ia i roto i te whakaminenga o te iwi,

kia whakamoemiti ki a ia i roto i te nohoanga kaumātua.

33 Ko ia hei mea i ngā awa hei koraha,

i ngā pupūtanga wai hei oneone maroke,

34 i te whenua whai hua, kia tītōhea,

mō te hara o te hunga e noho ana i reira.

35 Ko ia hei mea i te koraha hei hārotoroto wai,

i te whenua maroke hei pupūtanga wai.

36 Ā, whakanohoia iho e ia te hunga matekai ki reira,

hanga ai i tētahi pā hei nohoanga;

37 hei rui māra, hei whakatō māra wāina,

e tupu ai, e maha ai ngā hua.

38 Ko ia anō hei manaaki i a rātou, nō ka nui rawa;

kāhore hoki e tukua kia torutoru haere ā rātou kararehe.

39 Nā, kua iti haere anō rātou, kua piko

i te tūkino, i te hē, i te pōuri,

40 e ringihia ana e ia te whakahāwea ki runga ki ngā rangatira;

e meinga ana kia hēhē i te ururua, i te wāhi kāhore nei he ara;

41 otirā, kei te whakateitei ia i te rawakore ki runga i te mamae,

kei te mea i ōna hapū kia rite ki te kāhui hipi.

42 Ka kite ngā tāngata tika, ā, ka hari;

ko ngā hē katoa hoki, kopia ake te māngai.

43 Ko te tangata whakaaro nui ka mahara ki ēnei mea,

ā, ka mōhio rātou ki te aroha o Ihowā.
