Salmos 2

1 Why do the nations rage,

and the peoples plot a vain thing?

2 The kings of the earth take a stand,

and the rulers take counsel together,

against Yahweh, and against his Anointed,*2:2 The word "Anointed" is the same as the word for "Messiah" or "Christ" saying,

3 "Let’s break their bonds apart,

and cast their cords from us."

4 He who sits in the heavens will laugh.

The Lord*2:4 The word translated "Lord" is "Adonai." will have them in derision.

5 Then he will speak to them in his anger,

and terrify them in his wrath:

6 "Yet I have set my King on my holy hill of Zion."

7 I will tell of the decree:

Yahweh said to me, "You are my son.

Today I have become your father.

8 Ask of me, and I will give the nations for your inheritance,

the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.

9 You shall break them with a rod of iron.

You shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel."

10 Now therefore be wise, you kings.

Be instructed, you judges of the earth.

11 Serve Yahweh with fear,

and rejoice with trembling.

12 Give sincere homage to the Son,*2:12 or, Kiss the son lest he be angry, and you perish on the way,

for his wrath will soon be kindled.

Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.

Te Kīngi i Whiriwhiria e Ihowā

1 He aha ka nana ai ngā tauiwi,

ki te whawhai ki a Ihowā,

ki tāna tangata hoki i whakawahi ai; me te kī anō,

3 "Kia motumotuhia e tātou ā rāua here,

kia ākiritia ā rāua taura i a tātou."

4 Ko ia kei te rangi e noho ana, ka kata ia;

ka whakahī te Ariki ki a rātou.

5 Nā, ka kōrero ia ki a rātou me te riri anō;

ka tino weriweri hoki, ka whakaohorere i a rātou,

6 "Ahakoa rā ka whakawahia e ahau tāku kīngi

ki runga ki tāku maunga tapu, ki Hiona."

7 Māku e whakapuaki te kupu:

Kua mea a Ihowā ki ahau, "Ko koe tāku tama,

nōnāianei koe i whakatupuria ai e ahau.

8 Īnoi ki ahau, ā, ka hoatu e ahau ki a koe ngā tauiwi hei kāinga mōu,

me ngā tōpito o te whenua hei nohoanga tupu mōu.

9 Ka wāwāhi koe i a rātou ki te whiu rino,

mongamonga noa rātou i a koe, ānō he oko nā te kaihanga rīhi."

10 Nā, kia mahara rā, e ngā kīngi;

kia ākona, e ngā kaiwhakawā o te whenua.

11 Mahi atu ki a Ihowā i runga i te wehi,

kia hari me te wiri.

12 Kihia te tama kei riri ia,

ā, ka mate koutou i te ara,

ka hohoro tonu hoki te mura o tōna riri.

Ka hari katoa te hunga e whakawhirinaki ana ki a ia.
